The timer easily replaced the old mechanical timer and gives us many more options for when we want the pool filter to run. I have it run early for an hour, so the skimmer clears the pool top. Then it runs a couple more hours in the afternoon to keep the chlorine level up. The directions are not simple but easy enough to follow after studying them.

Great warranty and service - read on. On my third timer. First one worked great for 8 months and quit working. I was using the timer as an on/off timer for my 1 hp, 240 volt pool pump. Called Suraielec and they replaced it under the 1 year warranty. Second replacement timer died after 8 months again, but since the first timer's warranty had expired I figured they would not replace it. I did purchase a third timer as it was easy to install, just disconnect existing wiring, pull out the bad control unit, replace with the new control unit, and connect the wiring. No need to change out the waterproof housing or eletrical conduit. This time I purchased a 4 year Asurion warranty for $8.99, which is cheap if this $45 timer needs replacing again in 8 months or so.UPDATE: Suraielec aparently read my review, said they were concerned about my experience and would refund my purchase price for the most recent timer I had purchased. How great was that three months after my purchase.

It is a great product, and would be 5 stars if the controller could handle each device independently, it means, it could set an on/off schedule per device and not for both at the same time, for example, one device could be a swimming pump and the other one the salt box: the salt could work for 6 hours and the pump for 12. Easy, right?
