SV179 Red Dot Reflex Viewfinder Finder Scope is an easy upgrade to the optical finders that are usually found on 4.5" and 6" reflectors and many refractors as it is a straight replacement, using the same two protruding studs. The holes on the base of the finder are slotted so that they will fit from 11mm to 30.3mm across.

I had an old Meade remainder refractor that I bought on sale, but it didn't have a finder scope. I bought this inexpensive SVBONY reflex finder, and it was a perfect fit for the two mounting posts. Battery included; it works well.

The SvBony Red Dot finder scope makes using my reflector scope so much easier. The stock view finder magnified everything which made it hard to translate what I saw with my eyes and what I saw thru the viewfinder. Now it only takes a few seconds to zero in on a target. Good quality, easy to use. Definitely would recommend.

This red dot finder is all plastic and reasonably well made for the price. It does not come with any instructions, so you’ll have to figure out how to center the red dot on your own (there are two adjustment wheels). Out of the box the mounting was loose, requiring some tightening with a screwdriver. Aligning with a telescope is impossible until all components are tightened. Once this is accomplished, however, alignment took less than a minute. The red dot is controlled by a third thumb wheel. The wheel turns the dot on/off and increases brightness for use in daytime conditions. This finder is a good addition for an inexpensive starter telescope.

I wanted to add a red dot to my 3" table top reflector, and this fit the bill. I use the small scope for specific objects and noodling around the sky, and I could easily enough point the optical tube to target most things it can see. I have a red dot and other finders on other telescopes I have, and figured it might simplify acquiring an object rather than just looking down the tube in the dark. It does. It's not a problem adjusting it for alignment as others complained about in reviews. As an inexpensive item, maybe some work better than others. Mine works. It will move in both directions, with altitude taking a couple of more twists to get things moving. It works, and it's cheap. I have no complaints.

Put this on an old Meade 4.5" reflector and it makes it so much easier to find objects. Used in conjunction with an app such as StarWalk 2 it is easy to find planets and align the scope to them. For a casual observer it makes all the difference in ease of use.

I bought this to more easily find things in the sky with my Hestia telescope. While I did have to make an adaptor to fit it (which I was aware that I’d need to before buying it); the red dot sight itself works very well. Definitely a good purchase.

Nothing complicated about this item. It does exactly what it's supposed to and was easy to install. There are fancier more expensive rdf's out there, but I'm entirely pleased and satisfied with this unit.
