I've wanted a clapper for a long time for quilting. It really does help press a seam flat, especially when pressing seams open when quilting. I'm not sure how it's used for garment making since I only quilt. This works great for absorbing the heat of the iron and makes those seams lay so flat. The only thing is there is a spot on the side where you grip the clapper that has a burr that has splintered. I would have expected it to be perfect with no place for a finger to catch on it or the fabric to catch on it. That's the only reason I did not give it 5 stars. But I'm happy with it otherwise.

I've wanted/needed one of these for years and finally ordered. This is so helpful when pressing seams open. It really helps to set them better. Also is great when pressing thin/small seams before sewing, you can hold it down with the clapper as you start pressing thin seams, then set with clapper. Definitely worth the price and wish I had gotten years ago. Highly recommend for quilters and clothing makers.

If you are a quilter, this is a must have! It makes getting crisp seams so easy. After pressing my quilt blocks, I just put this on the seams and they turn out great! It is 9 inches long, so it works great on most quilt blocks. It's not too heavy, yet is the perfect weight for seams.
