I chose this outlet cover because I wanted to leave something plugged in all the time without leaving the outlet exposed. With my old outlet cover that was a flip up, one outlet is always exposed. This one expands to accommodate the cord that stays plugged in and closes around the cord that exits the housing. Comes with a foam seal for the back, screws, and 3 different outlet cover faceplates.

This is a very neat product. Literally. It collapses to a pretty shallow cover when not in use but can expand to enclose a plug and cord and keep the connection weather resistant. I don't know how long or how well the bellows system will hold up over time but it seems to be very solid construction and good materials. I have this installed on my deck where any outdoor fixture would be likely to be banged into by chair legs (and people legs). When not in use this outlet is almost flush with the wall. I love the design.

This was fairly easy to install over an existing 1-gang box that I cut into the bricks. It beats the heck out of the clunky metal boxes and it expands to allow the box to be closed when a plug is in use. Overall I am pleased. The latch is a little finicky, but I am used to it now.

I needed several of these to cover 2 of my outdoor exposed outlets. The previously installed covers failed to prevent water entry which after each rain storm caused the CFI to trip. I had one of these installed years ago. It worked. So when I found these on Amazon, I purchased 3 more (1 as a spare). Since I had an uneven brick surface to mount them to, I used some caulking to ensure that the foam gasket sealed out water. The do work, when properly installed. (Use caulking where needed to ensure a proper seal.)

Even though the cover expands, it still doesn't close completely on most of my power cords in the rain. Better than what I had, but disappointing as well.

Me gustó mucho la idea y concepto de este protector de toma corrientes-apagado exterior con riesgo de salpicaduras de agua. Lo compré pensando en instalarlo junto con un toma corriente tipo GfCI que pondrÃa en el jardÃn donde está la alberquita de los niños. La verdad es una maravilla, menos riesgos de descarga eléctrica con los niños cerca.

I've tryed other outlet covers that often get damaged when not in use because of their high profile. This unit is definitely low profile when not in use and it's easy to install. The other units turn yellow with exposure to UV rays and that's not cool. I haven't had this item for long but time will tell. I recommend this product for now.
