This is a heavy and solid live center. It runs true and there is no bearing noise, but it does get warm when used for a while. I usually run full speed ahead on my Jet 1221 lathe. For those that may wonder, only the small center part turns. The larger outside diameter remains still, which I feel is safer, especially with very small turnings such as pens or finials. I've come to like and trust the Taytools brand in general. They make some solid stuff for the price point.

Mostly due to all the glowing online reviews, I started looking heavily at TayTools when I recently got into woodworking. This was one of my first purchases and won't be my last. It is a quality piece of hardware at a surprisingly low price. So far it is working great. Very happy with it.

I should of returned it sooner as I can't now. The bearings are very stiff, and the rotation is tight as if not wanting to rotate, even brand new. Tried using it 3 times and each time it made the project fail. Tossed it in the drawer and forgot about it till now. VERY disappointment in this.If you buy one, and it's stiff rotating, RETURN IT FAST and buy something else!
