This woodblock's build quality is excellent, with a beautiful finish. It has a nice, solid heft, weighing 12.4 oz (351 g). A mallet is provided, with a stick length of 7-1/2" and 1" diameter ball head, and according to an answered question, the head is made of hard rubber. Both block and mallet were packed snugly with paper inside a reusable, cylindrical, cardboard storage tube, packed inside an Amazon cardboard shipping box. With the provided mallet, I get a loud, clear and resonant sound. On this block, the sweet spot near the center edge resonates around E6 (2nd E above middle C), and I can get a higher pitch, around G#6, by striking near the left or right edge of the resonating channel.I'm quite happy with this instrument and am looking forward to incorporating it into upcoming performances.

I have nothing but good things to say about this made in the USA instrument. It came packaged great with information â„¹ï¸ on how it's made and where the White Ash wood was locally sourced. I was Amazed at the wonderful tone it has. Very Happy Customer! âââââ

The best part is the quality of the wood used. Provides excellent tone and Dynamics. Complete with a synthetic Mallet & 4 rubber feet.

I bought this to use in my summer school class to to teach music, rhythm, and drumming. The sound of the wood block is louder and higher than the drums so all my students can hear it above the noise of 18 kids hitting the drums! I bet the 8-inch one would be even louder. It appears to be solid and well-made. There is a sweet-spot in the middle but you can also hit the top or bottom to make a different sound. Just make sure you hit the side with the writing, not the back.I love that it's made in USA.I also like that it's one solid piece-not pieces glued together.Highly recommend!

Love the sound of this wood block. It sounds just like any you'd hear in a professional symphony recording where the instrument is featured (Prokofiev's Symphony #5 comes to mind).

Solid, well-made block. The sound is pretty good, not as rich of a tone as I would have liked, but it's good. The mallet is fairly hard plastic, it may sound better with a softer rubber mallet. Note that there is only one resonant chamber, not two-sided like most wood blocks. I'm Ok with that, it makes the base more solid. Mine is made of oak. I like that each item has the craftsman's name on the bottom!

I use this with my children's choir at church - lovely, resonant sound.

The sound is rich and full and just what I wanted. The small rubber "feet" add a little space between the box and the surface it sits on, so that the sound is sonorous and reverberant.

Il suono non e' brutto, ma non risuona come altri analoghi che avevo sentito in giro. E' un po' secco e massiccio.

Looks nice, however there was little variation of tone. Not worth the price
