  • Constructed from solid hardwood for an authentic sound — the Timber Drum Co. wood block is constructed from a solid piece of real Tennessee hardwood to give it an organic, warm and woody sound that plastic blocks can never fully replicate
  • Made in the U.S.A. — every Timber Drum Co. instrument is made from Tennessee hardwood that is hand-crafted by skilled experts in our Nashville, Tennessee workshop — features a hand-rubbed oil finish that darkens the look
  • Large size — this large size wood block measures 8" long x 2.5" deep x 1.8" high and creates the lowest pitch out of the three blocks we make (small, medium and large)
  • Includes 1 hard polymer mallet and 4 rubber feet — an 8" mallet with hard polymer head is included to produce a sharp, knocking attack note with plenty of volume — 4 rubber feet are also included in the package and are applied by using their adhesive side
  • Durable for long-lasting use — crafted from one solid piece of hardwood, this block is exceptionally durable and can withstand multiple uses from mallets and other percussion tools — for the best tone, play near the center and close to the edge
  • Fits any musical situation — great for concert percussion, live musicals, school/community bands, live rocks bands, professional recordings or any other setting where you need an authentic, sharp wood block sound that can carry through other instruments

Timber Drum Co. is a small workshop located in Nashville, Tennessee dedicated to crafting MADE IN U.S.A. instruments with locally sourced materials. The sound of these wood blocks is natural, warm and full of rich, knocking tone that can only come from hand-crafted wood materials. This is the real and authentic wood block sound that plastic blocks can only attempt to mimic. This block is built from one solid piece of American hardwood with a hand-rubbed oil finish that darkens the look while bringing out the natural wood grain. Our one-piece design projects a focused tone that cuts through other instruments with plenty of volume. It is also extremely durable. Multiple sizes are available, which allow you to create complex rhythms with changes in pitch, since the larger the block the lower the pitch. Add a Timber Drum Co. wood block to your personal collection of sound effects, and be ready when you need an authentic tone for your next performance or recording. For the best sound, play near the center and close to the edge. Includes one 8” hard polymer mallet and four rubber feet with adhesive backing that you can add to the block yourself if you choose. Made in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.

This woodblock's build quality is excellent, with a beautiful finish. It has a nice, solid heft, weighing 12.4 oz (351 g). A mallet is provided, with a stick length of 7-1/2" and 1" diameter ball head, and according to an answered question, the head is made of hard rubber. Both block and mallet were packed snugly with paper inside a reusable, cylindrical, cardboard storage tube, packed inside an Amazon cardboard shipping box. With the provided mallet, I get a loud, clear and resonant sound. On this block, the sweet spot near the center edge resonates around E6 (2nd E above middle C), and I can get a higher pitch, around G#6, by striking near the left or right edge of the resonating channel.I'm quite happy with this instrument and am looking forward to incorporating it into upcoming performances.

I bought this to use in my summer school class to to teach music, rhythm, and drumming. The sound of the wood block is louder and higher than the drums so all my students can hear it above the noise of 18 kids hitting the drums! I bet the 8-inch one would be even louder. It appears to be solid and well-made. There is a sweet-spot in the middle but you can also hit the top or bottom to make a different sound. Just make sure you hit the side with the writing, not the back.I love that it's made in USA.I also like that it's one solid piece-not pieces glued together.Highly recommend!

Love the sound of this wood block. It sounds just like any you'd hear in a professional symphony recording where the instrument is featured (Prokofiev's Symphony #5 comes to mind).

Solid, well-made block. The sound is pretty good, not as rich of a tone as I would have liked, but it's good. The mallet is fairly hard plastic, it may sound better with a softer rubber mallet. Note that there is only one resonant chamber, not two-sided like most wood blocks. I'm Ok with that, it makes the base more solid. Mine is made of oak. I like that each item has the craftsman's name on the bottom!

I use this with my children's choir at church - lovely, resonant sound.

The sound is rich and full and just what I wanted. The small rubber "feet" add a little space between the box and the surface it sits on, so that the sound is sonorous and reverberant.

Il suono non e' brutto, ma non risuona come altri analoghi che avevo sentito in giro. E' un po' secco e massiccio.

Looks nice, however there was little variation of tone. Not worth the price
