Really, it's such a simple thing but using a bit like this can prevent splitting of even something very wheezy (like a 1x2). Also, this set contains a 3/8" bit which is nice for drilling deep to plug with a dowel section. This is great for either aesthetic reasons or outdoor where water can well in a fastener hole.Since you're typically going into wood and probably the most common case for a cheap set like this is pine or similar, these last a very long time (such a shallow & small hole). The case is nice, just to keep them all in one place.The nice thing about this set is the case. The downer is that there's no fancy depth collar, which, for this price is not a surprise.The silence feature is a non issue since typically vibration and noise are not an issue for the typical use case of a countersink bit like this (in wood). Steel or aluminum are a different case completely and I've never used anything like this in anything but wood.These have the common hex shank which work in driver tools, you can still chuck them into a drill since most drills have a 3 jaw chuck which works fine with these. Then you can drive the fasteners with a driver or visa - versa. A drill usually has a torque/tightness setting that may make it easier to get a wood screw to the right depth/tightness but the same can usually be done with an impact driver.

Iv'e been working with wood for more than 40 years by never had a countersink/drill combo like this before. This works great, makes a professional looking assembly, and saves time. My next set will have stepped bits so that the pilot hole, body hole, and countersink all get drilled in one operation.

I used the #12 counter sink drill, adjusted the drill bit length and started drilling and chamfering holes in oak, then on the second hole the drill bit stayed in the wood, I pulled it out and tightened it again and the Allen wrench stripped this time. But I drilled /chamfered 420 holes afterwards and it worked good.

Real garbage . One of the countersinks is bent so it is unusable due to the wobble. The set screw doesn’t hold the drill bit so it get stuck in the wood. Do not buy .
