These handcrafted instruments are authentic reproductions of the original instruments, introduced in the early 19th century in England and Germany. Trinity College offers both of the two major types-the Anglo and the English models. The Anglo model is a “bisonoric” design-much like today’s harmonica-where a different note is produced by the “push” and “pull” motion of the bellows. This type of mechanism lends itself perfectly for many styles of ethnic or “folk” dance music. The English style of concertina operates on a “unisonoric” system where each push and pull of the bellows gives the same note when any given key is held down. The English System alternates the notes of the scale between two hands, enabling the execution of rapid melodies. This fingering system style is quite versatile and can be used for many styles of folkdance music as well as Classical music in the hands of a virtuoso. The player holds each side of the instrument with the attached thumb strap-as opposed to the Anglo style instrument where the straps cover the entire hand.

I wanted to give this five stars!It seems very solid, sounds lovely, and looks nice. My son has greatly enjoyed learning to play, and the songs he plays sound beautiful and full.However, he discovered one error on the concertina which has affected his playing. On the left-hand the 2a Bb comes out as a B natural. I'm not sure if there is a way to fix it. Other than that one faulty note, the instrument is great. I don't know if ours is defective or if they all have this mistake.

10 of the 30 buttons were busted and did not make any sound. There was also parts rattling on the inside. Had to return it

Reviews indicated there would likely be a problem when you receive the instrument, but all the buttons work, no sticking, bellows require some loosening up, but I’ll build arm muscles! Sound is crisp and clear. Really pleased with the unit.Only complaint is that it smells mildewed. Like when you get an old book that got wet or something. Going to air it out and see if that helps.

I bought 3 of these, I liked the first one. Sounds wonderful. Most music books use the 30 button concintina. Easy to learn. Would recommend it very highly. Each one arrived in perfect condition. Well packed. Just bought my 4th one. I give them away as gifts. Came very fast. Still love them

Hoping third time is a charm. Both instruments we have received so far had damage (keys, vents, rattling sound internally). The "support" website is basically non-existent. Transfers you to Trinity College, with no directions on who to contact for instrument issues.
