I do not write a lot of reviews, but for this item I am going to speak up. My driveway was a mess, had probably never been edged before by previous owners. I am having the driveway sealed, so i had to clean it up. I have been moving more and more towards manual yard tools for weeds, cutting, etc. No gas, no motors that burn out, or break, or need filters or oil changes. and you get some exercise.I ordered this thing, and it was a BEAST. it was hard work cause I have a 200 foot long driveway and it was crazy over grown the whole length on both sides with big weeds and thick grass. Took about 1-1.5 hours of going back and forth back and forth with this wheel but it cleaned up beautifully. item worked exactly as it was supposed to. and the 2nd and 3rd times should all be much easier.Would definitely buy this again, but doubt I will have to. seems sturdy and well made.

I'm embarrassed to say, I had no idea what one of these were until about a year ago when I saw my neighbor pull one out of his garage to edge his driveway and sidewalk. I laughed as I pulled out my brand-new TroyBilt edger attachment for my string trimmer and it roared to life. I immediately proceeded to mangle the edges of my yard and chip my driveway and sidewalk with the unwieldy beast.With my tail between my legs, I asked my neighbor if I could borrow his rotary edger and take it for a spin. It worked well enough, but it was old. Still a little skeptical, I wanted my own.Behold the 32100 Tru Tough Rotary Lawn Edger! This is a beast! The two wheels of awesomeness holds the edger very stable as you apply slight downward pressure, gliding the edger back and forth across the edge of your cement. The wheels are spring-loaded to apply a perfect amount of cutting pressure to the cutting blade against the spoked-wheel. Because of this, any clogs quickly release as you keep rotating. Also, this action allows the unit to be self-sharpening of sorts, though only cutting grass and weeks, "sharp" is a relative term.I have several hundred feet of walkway to edge, and my first run through probably took me 45 minutes. This may sound long, but it had not been edged in over five years. There was no groove for the edger blades to travel, and I was creating this at the same time. The grass was thick and nasty (a mixture of bermuda grass and fescue). The second week, I could complete the same job in only 15 minutes. The neighbors across the road are still trying to gas-up and pull-start their power edgers by the time I'm done with my edging.I couldn't be happier with this purchase, and if anything were ever to happen to it, I would replace this edger like-for-like. I love it, and would definitely recommend it to anyone.Note: If you are edging a lawn for the first time, you will need to make several passes back and forth so the edger will make a proper groove in the ground. All future work will be a breeze.

This tool is not easy to use, you will sweat, curse, and get blisters, but the results are amazing. I've got years worth of edges that have encroached on my sidewalk, and made my lawn look bad even when it's green and well trimmed. This tool has allowed me, with a LOT of work, to establish and maintain a solid edge along the sidewalk. The downfall is that it only works on edges with a hard sidewalk or solid border, which I knew, but is still inconvenient. The first few times I used this, it was a royal pain in the butt, but now that the edge is established, I can knock out the trimming work in the time it would take me to fire up the weed whacker. It's a good product, it does the job I want it to do and is a nice gas-less tool to have in the yard maintenance quiver.

This is an edited and upgraded review. My first experience was not good. The grass had grown 2" or more over the edges. Where the grass was thick St. Augustine, the vines would wrap around the blade and clog it. It took too much effort to use this product in this situation, but my experience is much better now. Here is how I solved it.If your edge has gone unattended for an extended period, you will have to go through the time and trouble to first prepare the edge by cutting through the overgrown grass with a shovel. Cut into the sod a little deeper than what you think is ideal. You will have to do this because the blade on this trimmer is not sharp enough to cut through a thick overgrowth. The blade is about 1/8" thick and square cut. After investing the time and effort to do this, I then laid down a bead of Roundup weed killer along the edge to ensure the grass wouldn't grow back too rapidly. You only have to do this shovel-and-Roundup procedure once, and the Roundup is optional. The edge will be easy enough to maintain as long as you trim it at least once every two weeks.I have used the trimmer five times since then. The last time it went faster and easier than the first because I think the blade has self-sharpened some from from friction against the edge of the concrete. It does require more effort than a string trimmer, but not much more time. Since you don't have to bother with refilling gasoline, oil or nylon line (or rethreading a broken line), you probably come out even time wise. Other advantages over a string trimmer are that you don't need to wear eye or hearing protection.

I am not sure why people are annoyed that it takes work. I did a lot of edging, and sure, I was a little tired and even a wee bit sore the next day- the results were fantastic.For those complaining it takes work--you do NOT have to push down as hard as you can. Let the tool do the work.This did a truly amazing job in the wetter spots and the drier spots. This is a great edition to my garage.

Can’t try it till summer rolls around but seems in good working order. Seems sturdy.Whoever delivered it just chucked on porch. Plain sight from sidewalk. Didn’t try to hide in behind the chair to the right or out of sight and was to busy to even ring the door bell ! Unreal ! And we wonder why so many parcels go missing. Use some common sense !!!!!!!!!!

This edger is amazing and does the job as promised to give the perfect edges. It is heavy with the long heavy wood handle and tough metal for the hard work. However, the handle is not as shown in the picture. It is natural finished wood with nothing attached to it other than the edger and it arrived in a flimsy cardboard box with no packing around the edger and blades other than a plastic bag and one end of the box was 1/4 open. I thank the Lord for watching over my edger and having it arrive with no problems despite the beat up and open box. I would give it 5 stars but marketing has to provide the right picture for the product they are selling to me and shipping packaging was a problem. If it was across the city it would be okay but across the country should be better packing for this type of item.
