I bought these to go with a thin rubber hollow cord. The cord sticks to the point of a knitting needle and lets you slide the stitches onto the cord. If you're using the cord as a stitch holder, this can be clamped onto the ends to keep the stitches from going somewhere else off the cord.It's also good as a stopper on DP, circular needles, or the cord of an interchangeable needle.I like these because they're relatively small for this kind of stopper, which means they'll work well with the cord I'm using, or with small size knitting needles. If you're using larger size needles or cord, I'd recommend similar stoppers that are larger. For what I'm doing right now, they're perfect!

Used them on shoe laces but do not stay in place. i guess it depends on lace thickness.
