No need to remove the alternator with very little clearance. This guy extracted the pulley and allowed me to put the new pulley on and then pop the belt on right after. Don’t hesitate., there’s a bigger model, but I doubt you will need anything larger. I use this on a diesel alternator. And that pulley didn’t want to come off with several attempts with other pullers.

This worked really well on A/C compressor pulley even though it is designed more for other ribbed pulleys. It has a large notch that works on the rim of the A/C pulley.Because I had to back off pushing bolt halfway into crossbar it made it harder to align and threads could get damaged, I put a plastic sleave over the compressor shaft that also fit into centre of bar, which got it aligned easily in the cramped work area.When aligned then snug tight one puller bar, take off and tighten down a little more with allen wrench, put back on so it is on top part of pulley and then slide other puller bar up to pulley, and tighten with allen wrench. I was expecting it to not be easy and was amazed at how well it workedIt is heavy solid steel and can remove pulleys that are on tight in small spaces. It is strong enough to damage frozen on pulleys. This a cost bit more than renting a similar tool but is worth having for other uses.

AMAZING TOOL! My severely rusted and stuck crank pulley on my OLD 1995 Ford Ranger slid right of with ease with this tool! While the typical Jaw pullers kept snapping the old brittle metal off my crank pulley! I used heat, soaked in wd40 and pb blaster wouldnt budge! As Soon as this tool arrived the tool fit perfectly into the grooves and came off with ease! Centered it and tightened it up and BAM! 10/10 just took very long for shipping! thank you so much

works perfectly needed to pull the A/C compersor pulley off my 1994 ranger xl 2.3l on there a long time and was stuck but this puller worked perfect sure will use again works on serpentine groove type pulleys kind of a got to have tool for new cars if your are mechanicly inclined and work on your own vehicles !!!! would recommed for any mechanics tool chest! So I normally dont do many reveiws. But on this one I had too. I do ALOT of custom work in my shop, and use a lot of custom parts. I required a puller for a ribbed power steering pump pulley that would allow me to remove the pulley while not removing everything in front of the car so I could utilize one of my conventional pullers. This tool was perfect for that job. Took less than a minute to get the pulley off and saved me 2 hours of labor from having to remove everything in the way.
