This converter can connect a PC or laptop with a USB 3.0 / 2.0 port to an HDTV with the HDMI port. You can stream audio, video, and images to larger screens for a better visual experience. Backward compatible with USB 2.0. But it is strongly recommended to connect with a USB 3.0 port for optimal resolution and performance.
How to Use：When you plug the adapter in,the driver will pop up automatically and double click to install it. If it doesn't pop up automatically, please go to "my computer", the adapter appear as a USB flash, just like "C:D:", double click it.

Warm Tips:
1. Whether your computer is a lapto or a desktop computer, your USB interface may be USB 3.0 or USB 2.0. If connected to USB3.0 port, resolution is adjustable and the maximum resolution can be up to 1920x1080@60Hz(1080p). If connected to USB2.0 port, resolution is 800x600@60Hz.
2. If your screen resolution setting is more than 1920*1080, please adjust the resolution to 1920*1080, otherwise it will not work.

Cliff's Notes version:If it doesn't automatically prompt you to install the driver, then the adapter will appear as a USB drive. Go to that drive in Windows Explorer and install the driver that is there.-----------------------------------------I could subtract a star for the instructions not being clear, but I'm pretty happy at this point. It did not automatically prompt me to install the driver on my computer and I wasted a lot of time trying it on another computer and searching the internet for troubleshooting help.I finally went back to the item page on Amazon to see if I missed some clue that should have let me know it was not compatible. Then I found the "How to use" note that said to open the adapter as a flash drive in Explorer and install the driver.I noticed that none of the 1-Star ratings mentioned actually following instructions to install the driver. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Cable did not work at all. I tried every usb port on multiple computers and does literally nothing. No drive appeared for the driver, no USB device even appeared in my Device Manager. This product is absolute trash, do not buy. If you are looking for this functionality get one from a reputable company like uGreen. I have had good luck with their products and just wanted to give this one a chance; I will not be making that mistake again.

Pros:(1) Full HD capable 1920 X 1080.(2) Plug in device to monitor and USB (I used USB 3.1 SS).(3) Open the File Manager and look for a New Drive (D:, E:, etc.) -- Drive disappears after install is done.(4) Firmware with Readme and Executable Install program.(5) You should see the files mentioned in (3) above. Check the readme and run the .exe file.Cons:(1) No CD supplied as advertised -- not really a problem since newer computers may not have a CD.(2) I looked for drivers online for an hour before I noticed the firmware on the device, thus only 4 stars.(2) Mouse response a little slow but usable.(3) Streaming video a little choppy.(4) Mouse Response and Streaming does improve at lower resolutions.All in all, this is a great unit for the money and installs quickly once you find the new drive in the file manager.The screen looks

It might be user error, but it's not working for me. So be aware, it's not as simple as plug and play. There might be extra steps involved to making this work.
