I used this removal tool to evacuate my mini-split before charging and it worked well. I used the 1/4" x 5/16" adapter and followed the advice of another reviewer and steadied the plunger on the valve extraction tool as I removed the valve core. I found that if I pushed the plunger firmly against the valve core before I started to unscrew it, the valve core would stay attached to the plunger as I pulled it back through the isolation valve.
