This tool is ideal for L83 heads. I previously bought the typical spring compressor tool, dont BUY that one. BUY THIS ONE. Good cheap alternative.When installing retainers just need a little finessing putting the back retainers in, other than that works amazing.

I purchased this for my 314 ls head repair. It makes removing and installing the rockers very simple. The tool is small enough to fit in my drawer, but perfect for quick removal and or installation. It comes with two different length bolts for different engines. Great tool.

Honestly I like this style better than the screw on dual compression type because it lets you do things you couldn’t with the other style (hard to explain without a massive description). Not something I’d use if you are doing the spring swap in the rig, takes a bit of force to hold the spring which would be a chore in the engine bay. I used it on the heads while they were sitting on a table, then after installing the head decided to change springs (ooof) so I used it again while it was on the engine (on a stand) and worked great both ways. (Would suggest a friend to help but not mandatory)

I have bought three valve tools so far. None of which worked until I came across this little gem. I was able to replace all the valve seals with ease on my 2015 Gen V, 5.3L suburban. It does wear on the tool a little (as shown in photos) but does not damage top retainer and still works wonderfully. Thanks so much! Would recommend to anyone!! Seller should advertise it works on Gen V engines as well.

Lost a bit of paint on the contact points where the tool meets the spring after use but, overall..metal integrity looks sound after using on all springs on 2 heads. Slower but, good alternative to the $100 plus compressors out there that are designed for compressing at the shallow height difference of the rocker arm/valve springs on the newer LT engines. Have a long hadle ratchet handy to help save your arm while installing the retainers. 100% elbow grease using this tool

There's to many hands needed to pull this job off with this tool. Buy a bolt down compressor and do 2 at a time With one hand still holding your cig
