I have another brand of electric pruning shears that are much bigger and heavier than these. I was worried these might not have the cutting strength to get through bigger branches, but 1/2†branches snipped off easily with these pruners. Even slightly bigger branches weren’t a problem. A bonus of this style of pruning shears is that it can get into smaller places. The shears can also be adjusted with clicks of the trigger to open them either to 25 mm or 15 mm, depending on how much room you have to get the blades into. The battery was a little hard to get into the shears, but I eventually got it. The digital display shows the battery power remaining as a percent and the number of times the blades have cut. My battery started out showing 80% and it’s down to 60% with 332 cuts. The grip feels sturdy in both my left and right hands, and the trigger is easy to pull. I’d highly recommend these, especially if you already have DeWalt 20V tools.

I purchased this item based on it fitting DeWalt 20V max batteries and they did not fit.

I can’t praise this tool enough. We have a long hedge of clump maples in front of our house. Sometime you can almost see the sprouting branches growing. Every autumn we clip and clip and clip. Manual clippers take forever. These clippers do the job in a flash. I the entire hedge done by myself in a couple hours, this job normally take two of us 2-3 weekends! I’m thrilled with this clipper. It prunes so easily, the tool use a dewalt battery. I haven’t been able to drain a battery in a day of use. The clippers are well made and a great value if you already have the batteries.

They say the DeWalt battery fits it. IT DOES NOT!

Be careful when pulling the trigger. Make SURE there is no finger between the blades, because afterward there won't be even if there was before. (I did not test this and won't. But given the way it goes thru branches, it's likely.) I am not subtracting a star for this, because it's the bargain you make with this type of tool. It's especially dangerous because unlike a grinder or circular saw, nothing is happening. Then LOP!If you want a branch gone, put it between the jaws and press the trigger. Done. It's that simple. It even comes with a replacement blade. Much cleaner than the hand pruner with long arms, and easier because you're up close. Just do like electricians do, and stick you other hand in your pocket so you don't actually lop off a finger. (Electricians do it because the dangerous electrical shock is one that goes across the body from one arm to the other, with the heart in the middle. A shock to one hand isn't very dangerous. So work with one hand at a time, or be very careful when using two hands.)I am subtracting a star because you have to grind down the opening to the battery before a battery will fit. I tried with several DeWalt compatible batteries and none of them fit until I did this, and that's unusual. Then the track is still very tight after I lubricated it, and to take the battery out I have hold the battery near the ground, hold the button in with the thumb of that hand, then use the other fist to knock on the handle of the tool until it is knocked off the battery and down to the ground. This isn't good either but it's a fairly common problem with third party tools and DeWalt compatible batteries, and it's the fault of the tool not the battery. I can adjust the track too, but that will take a little time and I'll do it later.Maybe it's good in a way. If you don't have enough experience with tools to correct the problems with the battery mounting, you may not be ready to use this tool safely.

It is impossible to review these shears when it does not come with a battery. I knew that this product did not come with a battery, and I thought that it would be easy to find one that is compatible, but I was wrong. DeWalt batteries are expensive and finding a compatible battery was arduous. If you want a compatible battery, you also need to find an adapter to hook on to the shears before you get to the battery. This is too much work and too much more money than if I just purchased a complete pair of shears that came with a battery. However, the blades look sharp even though I could not test them on a 1" branch and it was lightweight and easy to hold. The shears should probably come with some type of protector for the blades, but it does not. Also there is no cover or carry case for the shears.
