I find that Deutsch connectors are easily the best wiring connectors for automotive wiring. I have been using them for many years on all of my projects because very few other automotive connectors are as compact, as sturdy, as weatherproof, as long lasting or as well made as these are. I guess you can tell that I'm a huge fan. They are available with two styles of pins, the simple crimp pins and the fancy 4 sided circular crimper pins. The 4 sided crimper type are the best although they are more expensive and, of course, you need the fancy 4 sided crimper tool. The regular pins are just fine if you are only wiring up a few connectors a year, but if you are doing a lot of automotive wiring then you should invest in the 4 sided tool. That's my two cents.

Great assortment and great quality. Make sure you have the right crimper for these. I butchered a few using what I had. I finally broke down and bought the proper tool icrimp model IWS-1424B

So to start off with I deal with Deutch connectors all day working on crown forklifts. I perfer the other style of pins that crimp from 4 directions however the tool to do that is at minimum $100-250 from what I've seen. You can get the right crimp tool for these for under $20. I don't know how they put these kits together for the price as the single 10pin connector costs more. So they are either really good clones with all the proper markings or they got a stellar deal on them some other way. As a bonus when you use all the connectors you have a pretty decent organizer that has the rest of the dividers in there still. Definitely would buy again at the price as I really like dt connectors as a small screwdriver makes it easy to depin and still water resistant.

If cost is no object then by all means step up to the Packard Weathpack Connector. They were designed to provide moisture resistant and reliable connections in modern cars. Electrical noise from a bad connection can raise cain with the microprocessor controllers in modern cars causing some very bizarre behavior.Having said that I have used a number of these "Knockoff" style of connectors and have had a great deal of success with them. They are a fraction of the cost of branded Packard Connectors and still retain the seals that keep the moisture out. Another advantage of this style of connector is the fact that the Pins can be removed if necessary using a pin removal tool. Beware, not all of the inexpensive connectors have the ability to release the pins, make a mistake or have a problem and you get to start all over.Installation is quite simple, install the seal on the wire and strip approx 3/16 ths off the wire. I like to use a simple B crimp style tool and pull test the first crimp before crimping the seal. A small tweak may be needed to assure that the axis of the pin aligns up with the axis of the wire after the seal has been installed. This will help to assure the pin ends up in the center of the hole after it is installed. A small bladed screwdriver can be used to make it line up after the fact. I would highly recommend purchasing a pin release tool.I find the cost of these connector kits to be far cheaper than trying to purchase replacement pins but I would caution against mixing up pins and connector housings from different kits.I hope this helps.

These are nearly identical in every way to the OEM Deutsch I bought from a dedicated wiring shop. They even have Deutsch printed on them. You will want a dedicated Deutsch crimper, or set of jaws for one of the Astro, IWISS, and similar tools. It will make the crimp much cleaner. You can do it in two steps, or using other jaws, but if you do a lot it's worth picking up a 14/16/18 or one of the other wire size dies. The trick to Deutsch is to assemble them correctly, and make sure the little lip on the pin engages the lock inside the gray housing, then the orange/green inserts lock the pins in place. To do this, on an existing wrapped set of wires, means you need to get your cuts and stripped ends lined up very well, or it's hard to get the pins all seated properly, especially with the larger plugs. For new wires this is not a problem, for short stubby branches off an existing loom, this can be a little challenging compared to something like molex. It could be my imagination, but my memory says the original OEM ones I got locked the pins in better before the orange/green lock was inserted. I feel like i'm fussing with these pins a little more.It is totally unnecessary to pack these full of dielectric grease. put a tiny amount on the orange seal so it slides easily and doesn't roll or tear.I've had these things on a dirt bike for years, in mud, rain, snow, desert, never had a failure. Some are under the seat, some are zip-tied to the bars for accessories, in direct weather.

The male pins need be dead centered in the plug to work - these are very sensitive to being aligned correctly before being plugged in. Any little bit of play and the squared off tip of the male connector will snag on the female counterpart, and you are not able to fasten the plugs.Really, for the price point is to be expected, but don't expect a quality experience when plugging these into one another once everything is hooked up.
