As an educator in violin music, these are perfect, with the colors it uses it allows me to color code the notes for my students. Along with color coding, if I have an advance student it gives them the opportunity to choose their own favorite color.Along with the multiple colors due to the long length of the rolls themselves, it’s perfect for a teacher like myself with a multitude of students, as well as replacing them when older tapes get damaged. It also leaves little to no residue on the instrument itself when taken off, leaving it clean and without the sticky feeling a regular tape would leave.

It curls easily, which makes it difficult to slide between the strings and the fingerboard, but you can stick the end of it onto a guitar pick or piece of index card to pass it under the strings. You need scissors to cut it, it doesn’t tear off, so be prepared for the additional inconvenience.

These Violin and Cello Fingering Tapes have been a game-changer for learning the instrument! As a beginner on the cello, these tapes made it so much easier to find my finger placements, especially in the first position. If you're new to the cello, here's a tip: to place the tape correctly, first use a tuner or a piano to find the notes for the first position (like C, D, E, and F on the A string). Once you’ve located those notes, mark the positions with the tape on the fingerboard. Make sure they’re even and smooth so they don't interfere with your playing. The tape is durable but still easy to remove or adjust without leaving sticky residue. The rolls are long enough that you’ll have plenty of backup in case you need it later. I highly recommend these for anyone just starting out! They’re such a simple but helpful tool for getting used to finger positioning.

I’ve taught private violin for 40 years (and played professionally). I’ve never written a review - this is’u first, but this tape is so awful that I felt the need for the PSA. It sticks so tightly to itself, it’s extremely difficult to find the end. You need to cut it with scissors (can’t just snap off a piece with your fingers) and it twists and curls immediately, making it hugely hard to use. It’s absolutely horrible and time consuming to use. I typically have used auto striping tape from auto stores but haven’t been able to find the bright colors I wanted lately - thought I’d try this.Instead, I just orders the tri color violin fingering tape from Long Beach Music. It just came today and it is MUCH MUCH better.

Plenty of tape provided in a variety of colors. No complaints.

I first bought a decal first that had the notes that were tiny, and unreadable. The position lines were also tiny and too hard to see. I only used tape for the first position, but will probably use a different color tape for the second and third position as I progress. Works well, the most reasonably price tape I could find.

I ordered these for an after school violin/ viola class I’ve started at an elementary school. The price was right and the colors are fun. BUT the tapes do come off. They peel and curl off easily. Not a fan…

I’m an orchestra teacher so I needed A LOT of this tape to apply finger markings for my students. It’s a great adhesive so I haven’t had to re-do anyone’s fingerings and they’re different colors so my students enjoyed picking out the colors for their instrument. They’re large compared to other tapes so I looped a tie through them to keep track of all of them. It’s perfect and will save me from having to repurchase more tapes every quarter.
