Founded by Harry A. Weaver in 1973 as the Fryburg Shoe Shop, Weaver Leather grew from humble beginnings into a trusted manufacturer of a wide range of leather and nylon goods.
Today’s Weaver Leather is experiencing continual growth and caters to a variety of U.S. and international customers in the markets it serves including equine, livestock, pet, leather supply, and arborist,. Works like it should. It does smell like rubber, but who cares? The smell reminds me of a tire shop. Don't punch directly on the board. Be smart, lay a cutting mat down first. There is no country or origin listed on the packaging, so I assume its USA. For the price, this is probably the best poundo board you'll find. The only trouble I have, is with the name. The poundo board is not "silent". No poundo board is silent, it really depends on the surface below the board. This in mind, don't expect it to do much as far as cutting down on the noise of an already loud work surface.

The first poundo pad i purchased was from that one Leather supply store EVERYONE knows about. Starts with a "T". It was alright, but also VERY expensive. Being a newer leather-worker, and having to figure out where to order leather, tools, hardware, and many other supplies was extremely overwhelming. I'm so happy I found Weaver Leather!! Again, being a newbie, I pretty much ended up severely damaging my original poundo board to the point it needed to be replaced by doing things I wasn't supposed to. Like using cheap round punches to punch corners on leather, thus causing huge gouges and cuts in the mat. Anyway, a year later, with a lot more know-how, and finding amazing companies like Weaver, I was able to find this board, and at almost half the price of my original one! I ordered 2 of these and couldn't be happier! It's an amazing product, and as far as I can tell, MUCH better than my old one. My chisels will remain safe when stamping, and I'll have plenty of shock absorption! This pad is a little bit stiffer than my old one, which is a GOOD thing, and I LOVE. Some have said it's "hard", I disagree. It's a little more stiff than the "T" poundo pad, but it's in such a good way. It's pliable, but so sturdy at the same time!I really wish I would have ordered this one in the first place, and that I had discovered Weaver sooner! I can't wait to place future orders with them. Their Master Tools?? I dream of those things. I want them ALL! Just need to start saving! I'm fully confident that everything I end up purchasing through them will be amazing.Thank you Weaver! For not only the replacement I needed, but also a much improved, upgraded version I had, and at an outstanding value! I look VERY forward to all of my future purchases!

This works well for it's intended purpose in leather working. I cut mine in half to make two 6"x12" mats, and the glued one the underside of my 6" x 12" marble slab, and the other half is glued to the underside of a 6" x 12" HDPE board. So why the 6" x 12" dimensions? I've found that 12" x 12" working surface is unnecessarily large for most of the leather work that I do. When you're doing leather stamping and punching, you're just working within a small area, no need for all of the extra space of a large work surface for those types of operations.I was first concerned about the strong smell it has upon opening the package, but thankfully it fully dissipated after a week.

I stacked this item on top of a wool felt pad made for ironing and it greatly reduced the noise from constant hammering. Great work surface for pounding and cutting.

This is exactly what I needed. Board is the perfect size, and is extremely sturdy. There is a very strong smell when you unwrap the item, and even the next day it is still very strong. This is to be expected with this material though...and it is not necessarily an unpleasant smell...just strong.

I bought this poundo board to use while leather working. Definitely high quality and keeps my stitching chisels sharp when pounding through leather. Weaver sells only high quality items.

I use this as an intermediate layer between a marble slab and a polypropylene board for punching holes in leather. It's great for noise and vibration reduction. You could punch straight into the Poundo board on a hard surface, but I don't want to damage the Poundo board surface too much.

It's working perfectly I just hate how it's stinks SOOOOOO bad of rubber...It's been outside for a week through a storm and rain and heat and still stinksWish it was thicker , my awl goes thru it too easilyWill purchase another !!

Good quality, does reduce noise andBounce, but the board for sure leaves residue. I cut a slice of plywood and glued the board to it and that seems to work great.

only giving this 4 stars because I can't get the matt to sit flat on my table.the middle is slightly raised. when I punch the leather in the middle of the board it is just as loud as if it was on just a table.
