Okay, so we’re kind of health nuts and grill out a LOT. We’ve always grilled salmon, but this fish basket? It takes our grilling game to the next level. Grilling fish in foil just isn’t the same, right? It’s basically fish-flavored steam at that point. But this basket? It gives you that perfect char that makes grilled fish taste so much better.We even tried it with catfish (which we love). We used to eat it fried, but not anymore. Not with this guy around!I thought it would be a nightmare to clean, but after a good soak, it’s a breeze. Seriously, if I’m grilling fish and it’s this easy to clean, it’s already winning.Oh, and here’s a bonus: it doubles as a cooling rack for my cheese straws and sausage balls for holiday treats (or any other baked good). It’s sturdy and has quickly become one of my most-used kitchen items. If you’re grilling fish, or just need a multi-purpose tool, this one’s a keeper!

This basket is great for grilling larger pieces of fish, such as salmon fillets. I originally bought the smaller version but unless you are just cooking for one, it is way too small. Go with this large version and you can use it for smaller pieces as well, but you're not limited to that. This stainless wire basket helps hold delicate fish together and makes it easy to turn. It would also be good for veggies or other items that might otherwise tend to stick to the grill. It is important to season the basket (follow the easy directions on the label) before using it to prevent sticking. Works like a charm and is well made. Looks like it will hold up well. Easy to open and close, lays flat to fill, and the basket is just springy enough to accommodate an inch- thick fillet. Two of these would fit side by side on my medium size 3-burner grill. May have to pick up another one before my next barbeque.

If you are looking for an easy way to grill fish this fish basket is a must-have accessory. I wanted a way to grill delicate filets without the fish sticking, breakng apart and falling through the grill. I bought the large basket which fit perfectly on my Weber Q 320 propane grill. I used the basket today for the first time with a couple of rainbow trout filets.I sprayed the basket generously with Pam and lightly coated the filets with olive oil. I grilled the fish on medium high, direct heat for aobut 6 - 7 minutes total, flipping it over once about half way through. The basket was large enough to hold both large filets firmly without squishing them. It is designed to hold the fish just off the surface of the grill. Even with a delicate filet like trout, the fish turned out perfectly with no sticking or breaking apart.The basket gets very hot - so you need a couple of good grill mits to flip the basket and take it off the grill once the fish is done. I carefully used a pot holder to undo the clasp that holds the basket halves together. The latch fit snug - but I didn't have a problem unlatching it. The filets did not stick at all to either the basket or the grill surface. Clean up is easy - just put the basket in the diswasher.You can use this basket not only for fish but for vegetables like asperagus, carrots, zucchini slices, etc. It seems very sturdy and well made - just what you expect from Weber. I am sure I will be using it a lot - I'm glad I bought it.

I ordered this grill basket for grilling whole fish but I have used it for fish, split whole chickens and vegetables and it serves its purpose well.The basket is easy to handle with a pot holder, BBQ gloves or heavy tongs. I like that it does NOT have a handle so it is easy to turn around without flipping making it easier to move it in, out and around hot spots on a charcoal grill. The curved wire ends keeps the basket from becoming caught in the grill. The stainless steel mesh is springy and allows for packing in a good of bit of food, although you don’t want to over stuff it. The skin of your fish/chicken/whatever does stick a bit to the mesh but I believe that will occur with any grill basket. After a little practice I can easily separate the meat from the mesh using a spatula. I have also used some vegetable matter (chopped scallions, leeks, lemons, herbs, etc) placed or sprinkled between the fish/meat and the mesh that further reduced sticking.The only problem I encountered was the release clip that holds the two halves together was not tight enough and when the basket heated up it would pop open. I squeezed the clip together in a vice so it would be a bit tighter and that did the trick. I don’t know if this was the case on just my basket but it was an easy fix for me. Obviously over loading the basket could cause it to pop open but I was not overloading it.I ordered this basket for grilling fish but I would recommend it for anyone who does a lot of grilling and is looking for a versatile basket to hold a little larger quantity of food. I would recommend it for the charcoal BBQ grill for its mobility atop the grill.Update: After more than 4 years of regular use this basket is still in good shape and works well. The one initial problem that I had with the clip (not tight enough) seems to have been a problem for some others too. But my initial fix of squeezing it in a vice (or perhaps pliers) corrected that issue from the start.I would definitely purchase this item again.

Worth it and easy to use. Love that the fish skin comes out perfect when grilling. Easy to clean and very versatile in cooking not just fish but squid as well.

We have grilled several different items, from a whole salmon to thin fillets. When you first look at the basket, you wouldn't think it could fit something much thicker than a single fillet. But the design of the springs allows it to accommodate even large whole fish. We have also grilled large and small items at the same time. Imagine flipping two or more fish at the same time. The basket keeps everything where it should - stuffing stays inside, nothing falls apart, and flipping over a fish is now a simple quick process. I find it easiest to use oven mitts and just grab the sides to flip it over. Also, it fits in our dishwasher. A clear problem-solver.

I like the idea of bbqing fish with this and it works quite well, especially if paired with a thermometer pen. It isn't the easiest to clean but I'm quite happy letting cooking residue burn off and then giving it a wipe down after.
