We installed the barometer on our sailboat and it seems to work well. The appearance is very nice, evoking a high quality instrument.

I am a weather aficionado. I maintain daily weather records which include a barometric reading taken at the end of each day and entered into the log. I have found it difficult to find an aneroid barometer that maintains its accuracy through its whole range. Having been an owner of two barometers before I purchased the Weems and Plath Endurance II, both lost their accuracy at the high and the low ends of the range of pressure readings. I researched a number of barometers on line with special interest to user reviews. The Weems and Plath for the most part had good reviews. It is an attractive piece, and it is German made. When I first received it, I set the needle to the local weather station and made minor adjustments to get it to match for the first couple of weeks. It seemed to be accurate in the normal range of pressure. It wasn't until I had owned it for a couple of months that we finally had pressure readings that were more extreme on the range of readings. What I found is that the Weems and Plath that I have actually starts reading more extreme in both the lower and upper ranges than what surrounding weather stations are reporting. This is opposite the trouble I had with my previous aneroid barometers which became flat at the high and low ends. So I am disappointed and have come to a conclusion, that unless you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a professional barograph, aneroid barometers are inherently flawed in their ability to track accurate pressure at the low end or high end of the ranges. I would love for somebody to prove me wrong.

A mechanical barometer is an essential item in Florida. The reading matches the TV weather air pressure figure within .02 inch of Hg. The beautiful brass finish makes for a nice display in your living room, den or safe room.
