The SP80 does not come with a holder, like the old WLC-100 I was replacing. There are not many choices for a holder for this larger iron. This one works very well, and has a holder for the brass sponge cleaning balls that I was already using.

Had purchased two less expensive holders and was never satisfied with how my Weller solder iron rested in them. So I decided you get what you paid for and bought the Weller brand holder. Very glad I did. Much more substantial. Much better design. I like that the Weller holder has the solder iron resting tip up, unlike the other cheaper models I purchased which has the tip down. This Weller holder has my recommendation.

I am a novice stained glass artist, and own an older Weller W-100 soldering iron. The inexpensive holder I purchased from Hobby Lobby (Studio Pro?) works just fine, but I grew tired of having to tilt the iron down, and "hit the hole." Plus, the wet sponge tip cleaning device cools the tip and gets messy. I found this Weller iron holder on Amazon and ordered it immediately. My W-100 fits just fine, and I can just lay the iron straight down in the cradle. The brass wool tip cleaning device works well, but it does take some getting used to. The Weller stand is a little lighter than the Studio Pro, but with the iron in the Weller holder, it sits 2 1/4" LOWER, making it less likely to tip over especially since the cord now points down instead of up in the air. In addition that puts less strain on the cord... I think the only downside is the top of the iron is exposed. The aluminum shield does wrap around to a point above the iron, but it could cause a problem if you drop something straight down from above. If you have long hair hanging down, and you lean over the iron (which you shouldn't ever do, no matter what holder you're using!), you might smell something burning!!! I might actually purchase a second one of these in case I ever need to have two irons going at once.

Most holders for hot irons are flimsy, not this one, sturdy, compact, and nicely made.

Good product, however the balance isnt that good, it swings back on the heavy side a lot. wish it stayed on that angled position. besides that. its a good product
