Is fairly accurate for most lumber moisture content except for hickory for some unknown reason reads much less moisture then other devices.

This reads about 8% for both Hickory and Pecan that are only seasoned about 4 months. That's impossible I believe. What am I missing in using it? Nothing instructions says actually how to probe the wood? Cut side? Bark side?
