I have owned other cheap basic flare sets. They all present the same problems centering the flare and slipping on the tubing. Even a high end brand did no better. This tool has a better chance of getting it done at the reasonable tool price. You will need to practice regardless what tool you buy.

Worked fine for 1/4 up to the max 5/8 copper pipe sizes. I only had one failure mode, one time I did not tighten the tool all the way and the pipe slipped. After that happened the same pipe kept slipping! You must cut away the portion that slipped because it became a smaller diameter! After removing 1/2 inch of pipe and tightening the tool all the way the fresh pipe portion did not slip.

Not sure about the other sized tubing because I didn't try, but this tool will not double flare 5/8" copper pipe. It simply pushes the tubing out of the tool causing damage to the pipe. I tried the vice grip trick as others have stated but that didn't work either. In my personal opinion, this is definitely not a professional grade tool as the listing states. A brand new tool couldn't even perform one double flare on 5/8" soft copper.

I’ve had quite a few flaring tools over the years this one was the best by far no fumbling everything locks together , dose all the flares you need for metric and standard lines, sturdy and well built , made great flares every time , slim and compact for storage

As mechanic you will learn something cheaper are better then expensive.. Ive probably got 6 brake tools like these hanging around my house. All those half box AutoZone sets . And it seems like I always loose the little black pieces or break them . I did 8 fitting with this set and didn't break on piece even know. I wish the cutter wasn't made on the cheap and was a little smaller . I bet I'll all the pieces will be found for months to come
