I’m a plumber and I run gas lines using copper tubing a lot, mostly 1/2â€. I wanted a flaring tool that is simple and isn’t a pain in a** to use. This one is streamlined for easy use. Everything is sort of built in to it all in one piece. It makes beautiful flares. Just make sure to debur your cuts first and let the tool do its thing. It’s expensive but if you make a lot flares or you want to get the job done faster then get this tool. You won’t be disappointed. You’ll appreciate it.

This was so easy to use. I’ve never flared copper Mini Split line sets. I did 5 total units and all flares tested out good. This is nicer and easier than the old style. I just wish it came in a case.

Another great product from yellow jacket. I've used all types of ratcheting and manual flare tools and this is by far the easiest and most reliable to use. I use this at the very least 6 times a day and I love it everytime. This is a must have, as it is fool proof and gives a perfect flare everytime as long as you dont over tighten when you're flaring. It pays for itself within just a few uses. Highly recommend

I had 4 copper lines for my mini-split system which were "factory" flared from the supplier. The flares they did were terrible. I bought this to use on the lines instead of my old style which simply smashes the ram into the end of the tubing; this one rotates and "burnishes" the flare. I was very impressed with how well it worked and how smooth and clean the flares came out. I would recommend using the "compatible" oil as the instructions say ("compatible" meaning an oil which is compatible with the refrigerant in the unit; basically, get some of the same oil the compressor uses).I re-did all the flares on these four lines because the "factory" ones looked so awful. I had zero troubles hooking the lines up and, about 4 months later, have had no leakage of refrigerant that I'm aware of; the HVAC works fine; it wouldn't take much of a leak in this small system before I'd expect to have problems.Yeah, it was a bit pricey for the hobbyist/HVAC hack like me, but I still feel it was worth it.

I did a fair amount of googling before buying this tool. I installed a mini-split several years ago and used a 'normal' rail-type flaring tool. The flair held for the AC cycle - but with Heat - the pressure increased and the flair failed. Cost me 300 to get it re-done and re-charged.My concern was figuring out the stick-out required before clamping the tubing down. With this tool, it has a stop - set the clamps to the right size, put the tube in the bottom clamp and push until it hits the stop, pull the top clamp into position, swing the wing-nut over the top clamp (which swings the stop out of the way) tighten the wing-nut and start the flare.
