I did notice that I did not need to switch the shafts as others said. Yes because of the slant of the head not being perpendicular to the holes I needed to make a small adjustment. It was a small adjustment. I went and purchased same size brass screw but just a little longer. I also purchased small brass washers to allow for the gap. This aligned everything. Once installed they worked absolutely perfectly. Easy to turn and holds the tuning. I was also able to have the keys point back similar to a double bass. I had to rotate the "C" and "G" Keys slightly so they didn't hit each other. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the results. These adjustments were no problem considering the overall cost. If mfg had adjusted the slant to remove gap they would have cost a whole lot more. I'd gladly go to home depot and fix myself.

We have a cheap cello, with crummy pegs. I replaced them with these tuners. It finally holds a tune and is easy to adjust! Now my wife can play her cello with our piano! But the screws it comes with are decorative brass screws. Just make sure you pre-drill the screw holes with a small drill bit or you will break the brass screws.

As another reviewer stated, you have to unscrew two of the gears (the shortest two) and switch the shafts right away- they come assembled backwards. The plates then still do not line up unless you mount those two tuners facing the wrong direction. Which looks even weirder.I opted to install them all facing the back with 2 of the plates off kilter (after drilling 4 wrong holes in my cello before realizing they were assembled backwards). All that said, I got them on, they work, and compared to regular pegs, they are miraculous. It’s like having fine tuners on your headstock.

The tuners for the A and D strings seem to be assembled backwards on their baseplates and can't come close to fitting on an instrument with a conventional scroll. And while the gears and shafts can be partially disassembled and reassembled with no great difficulty, they can't simply be flipped around to correct the error.Another obvious problem is that the spindle shafts and the baseplates are at right angles, so they won't fit decently on a cello peghead, as peghead sides slope and are NOT at right angles to the axes of conventional pegs.

Bought these to replace the traditional pegs on my electric cello. I found the one made for the D string wasn't shaped all that well resulting in me having to cut it and drill a new hole (otherwise I would have blown a chunk out of the back of the scroll). The plates are also quite flat and do not facilitate the curvature of the cello scroll, I will have to pack it out with Epoxy or felt or something to bridge the hideous gap.Other than that they are pretty well made and certainly look the part. If you're unable to adapt them a little to your instrument then I'm afraid you may be wasting your money buying them.
