My short school bus didn't come with a block heater because it was manufactured in sunny Southern California. I live in MA now. Before I put this thing in, it was routinely taking me 30 minutes of cycling the glow plugs and cranking to get going in the New England winter chill. Now... it starts up on the first try every day, even in negative degree temperatures. I can't compare it to other block heaters because i've never had one before. But I can tell you without a doubt this thing WORKS.

Exact model that my truck shop installed for me a couple of years ago, got this at nearly half the price. Previous reviewers say it should last for years, not the case with my first but it may have had a factory fault and it's still rated very high by shops and other reviewers. Have it on a timer as it only needs a couple of hours in very cold weather (0-20 degrees F. ) Has worked very well to date. Installed in Nov. 2014, it is now Feb. 2015 with three very cold periods of two weeks or longer. Time will be the final judge but so far it's been stellar.

Fits on 7.3 IDI diesel with no issues. Very good cord and machined brass base. Warms engine to around 110F on an average winter day. Sometimes I only plug up for a few hours. Closest to OEM that I've found!

Exact same as factory. Works great. A must for 6.9/7.3idi's in below 20'f weather

Plugged right into the freeze plug slot of my old 6.9 International and works perfectly.
