Zoo Med’s Betta Mopani Wood is a natural wood item that is designed to make the water chemistry of your Betta tank closer to what a Betta would experience in the wild. By placing this small piece of Mopani wood in your Betta tank it will naturally leach “tannins” which will give the water a light to dark brown tint plus lower the pH of your water. (Bettas in the wild live in water naturally tinted by decaying wood and leaves and with a lower pH.) Should the water be too dark brown or not to your liking you can remove the Mopani wood and soak in a clean container of water continually changing the water until the shade goes from a dark brown to light brown or clear.

I've been dumping in TopFin PH decreaser for months, with little to no discernible drop in PH levels in my freshwater 10 gallon beta fish tank (with lots of plants). Putting in 2 of these 3 little guys did the trick overnight. They look great, but most importantly immediately dropped the PH levels to a good place. Very happy!

I got this for my betta fish tank. I boiled it for a while before putting in the tank but it still gave off lots of tannins. Which I’m ok with. I’ve had it in my tank for a while now and everything is still good. My betta loves it. The size was good too. However, one of them floated. So I boiled it and then immediately transferred it to cold water, which somehow made it sink. I have no complaints.

I have a nine gallon tank so I combined the three pieces with a larger piece that I bought elsewhere and it all looks great together!

What a great value, honestly. I could have gone to the store, but I knew I wanted this specifically to redo a tall 5 gallon tank and these pieces have always been unique and good enough to glue together. Stuck in some boiling water for a little and sunk. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
