I appreciate that it is, in fact, real ebony. I cut and sanded it to replace the old factory nut on my Chinese cello, and it plays great now. Didn't need to use the saddle, but that seems decent as well. With the nut, I only had to adjust the angle from fingerboard side to bottom from the more obtuse angle it had to the correct 90° I needed, and sand down the sides a little as it was a bit long, but it was close enough that it took about an hour of fine tuning to fit the instrument, which wasn't too difficult

Good wood, and I can repair a cello with it. BUT, it took forever to get it to me.
