Disassemble the lever to unveil the cartridge head.
Remove the pin from the cartridge to set it free.
Using the pliers, firmly hold and twist the old cartridge counterclockwise and pull to remove, and inspect the new cartridge.

Moen faucets have a lifetime warranty. So, I got a free cartridge for my shower/tub faucet from them. A puller is definitely required to remove what was in there. I installed the Moen supplied cartridge, but it was a super tight fit and I had to hammer it in. In doing so, it was damaged and didn't work. So, I was in a bind since I have to shut off the water at the street. (newer ones apparently have a shutoff just on the hot and cold supply lines right near the fixture). Amazon had same day delivery on this aftermarket cartridge. I read some reviews that said this fit better than the Moen ones. That was true. It was properly snug, but easily installed and it worked flawlessly. Plus it was a lot cheaper than the Moen one that I looked up at home depot when I realized I needed another one. In the future, I am not taking the free Moen cartridge, but will use this brand.

Replaced two of these in my home. Used an oem cartridge in the first, and ordered this one to have as a spare/backup. I decided to replace the cartridge in my spare bathroom, and figured I’d give this one a try. The old cartridge was extremely stubborn to remove, and broke apart during removal. The rubber seals had fused themselves to the valve body. I had to essentially pry and break the remnants out of the body. The body was corroded, and I was concerned with getting a good seal from the new cartridge, so I also purchased a 1†ball hone on Amazon. I’m glad I did. The hone allowed me to thoroughly clean up the inside of the valve, and gave me a nice smooth surface for the seals to mate to. The cartridge works great, and after a few months of daily use, is still leak free, and very easy to turn. I won’t hesitate to purchase these for my third bathroom, when the need arises.

A couple of weeks after install I had to flush my water heater only to find out that the the water heater did not drain fully. After checking the cold inlet valve I found the hot water outlet to slowly feed the water heater with cold water ??? After checking all possible causes, ie all mixing valves, found this cheap 1222 cartridge to "leak" cold water into the hot water system. Replaced the cheap 122 with an original and problem was solved. When comparing the cheap 1222 with the original I found several discrepancies like size, different pot configuration, missing and open port at the back of the cartridge, etc. For me lesson learned, No more cheap "knock off" products for critical items. Would like to give it minus 5 stars. Be warned.

Product seems well made, fit and works perfectly for a Moen shower. Unfortunately, the valve loosener nut is a piece of junk and snapped with only a modest amount of pressure. Also, they literally give you a pill capsule of grease which is an incredibly cheap. Come on guys, you can do better. On a related note, highly recommend purchasing a valve cartridge puller tool, wouldn't have gotten mine out without it as it was seized up good from hard water.

I had trouble getting out the original MOEN 1222 cartridge even with using the MOEN extractor tool. The screw for the tool broke inside the valve cartridge. I had trouble extracting the screw, so I took a 6" drill bit and a screwdriver and slowly drilled/pried the old plastic cartridge out. Took about an hour, but I got it out.Used a stainless steel bottle cleaner style brush to clean out the chamber, turned the water on for a few seconds to flush all the debris out, applied a lot of silicon lube to the cartridge, and it went back in very easily and isn't leaking at all. I also bought the brass cartridge as longer lasting option but after the difficulties I had with the MOEN tool breaking on me, decided to stick with the plastic as its cheaper and can be drilled out.This was a real pain in the butt repair, hopefully I don't have to do again for 5-6 years.

last year, i ordered a kit which included a cartridge and a tool from another provider. While the tool was good i struggled to get the new cartridge into place, and had a hard time adjusting the actual shut off. A year later that cartridge failed and i was no longer able to shut off the water. This cartridge that i just ordered, slid easily into place and shut off immediately with no adjustment. TBD whether it lasts... but at the moment, am VERY happy w/this compared to my prior experience a year ago.

No me gustó que se me descompuso la llave del baño pero si me gusto que encontré por lÃnea la refracción igual y a buen precio y la entega fue antes de lo señalado.
