This cartridge replaced an old and leaking Moen cartridge and it worked as described. It included the removal tool, which came on handy because the old cartridge was really stuck, perhaps due to the hard water. A few pointers, after removing the old cartridge, get some fine waterproof sandpaper to clean and smooth out the inner cavity of the valve before installing cartridge. Make sure both side seals and the one on the front of the cartridge are well lubricated...lubricant is included. Align the cartridge, making sure the HC letters are facing up and push the cartridge in slowly, don't push it by the stem.

Keep in mind, this is *not* Moen brand, it's marketed as a compatible replacement cartridge. I installed this because my faucet was leaking. Initially, this seemed to resolve the leak issue. However, after putting the cover and handle back on and turning the water on/off a few times, this cartridge started leaking as well. I spent about 2 hours fiddling with it thinking I was doing something wrong. Eventually, I gave up and bought a real Moen cartridge.Also, while i had this cartridge in and the retaining clip properly in place, it still seemed like it should seat a bit deeper into the fixture, but I could not get it to go further in. This cartridge also came with an additional slip of paper admonishing you to not push on the stem to install the cartridge (and I did not). However, if you watch the Moen installation video, they install it by pressing on the stem.The real Moen cartridge slid right in and seated properly. Total repair time (excluding caulking) for the real cartridge was about 10 min. Your time is valuable, don't waste it on this product.The removal tool worked OK, not great. I was able to use it to pull the old cartridge out, but I don't think I got it working quite like intended.

Needed to replace the workings on this faucet that came when my house was built 20 years ago. could barely see the brand name on it, but it looked like the photo. This replaced it just fine.The tool for extracting the old one was helpful, not so much for extracting the 20 year old parts (the old one broke into pieces when I tried to pull it and I had to get very creative to get all the old, broken plastic pieces out) but for putting the new one in without putting pressure on the center of it. I got it to about 1/4" of all the way in when I couldn't push it any further. I used the extraction tool to tap it that last quarter inch without damaging the valve.Not putting pressure on the center and being liberal with the lubricant when you install it are the only things you have to be mindful of. Aside from that, the stock cheap plastic piece(s) that came out appeared to be the same cheap plastic as this. No since spending more on a name brand of the same quality.

I was skeptical because I saw this was a frequently returned item but it worked fantastic. Note: there are two pre-greased black rubber pieces that are not glued on. They just kind of sit in a recessed slot so they may fall off in your hand. Just put them in their place and shove the cartridge into the pipe with faith because everything will work just fine. The cartridge removal tool was a lifesaver. I had everything disassembled, installed, and the shower running in 7 minutes. I'm a 50yo Grandma and not a seasoned plumber. If you're skeptical, just order the dang thing. Free returns so what have you got to lose? So happy my faucet isn't leaking anymore. Highly recommend.

Worked excellent. Make sure you buy the removal tool as well. I tried the vicegrips and pull method moen showed on a video and it didn’t work.Was a perfect match for factory moen and it has been holding up well.

I used the 1222 replacement cartridge kit to fix my Moen one-handle shower, and it worked perfectly! The two-pack is a great deal, and installation was a breeze.

Cartridge is already leaking 5 months after installation. Tried to contact seller, no reply. Only good thing is the included tool did it's job ok. Money down the drain (with the water the item is leaking).NOT recommended!

I installed it and it would not turn the water all the way off, I used the o rings and seals to rebuild my old cartridge so it worked.

The part came fast, the instructions were straight forward and for the most part it looked identical to the old cartridge. But when I tried to install the new one after cleaning the chamber and lubricating the cartridge, it was just too tight! After multiple tries to gently press it into position, I used a long socket and tapped it into place. After turning on the water, water was constantly leaking. Removal of the new cartridge destroyed the outer casing and I had to carefully rebuild the old cartridge with the new plunger/piston. The old rebuilt cartridge pressed in with a little bit of force and now seems to have stopped the leak.
