This is not a high end machined set. However, it gets the job done and with cutting oil, I was able to get 4-5 spots per bit

worked perfectly for my case. I bought these to use on my Dodge Sprinter van. They are built like a tint box and rust a lot hence plenty of sheet metal work involved. has so many spot well that I need to cut out. These cut through them with ease. Just be patience and slow at the start. After they bind, you will see the beauty of these cutters. Highly recommend.

For best results, drill a small pilot hole, well not really a hole but start a hole and use the weld removal bit. This will prevent the bit from running and save you bits as well.

When I bought this cutter, 9 months ago, I was working on restoring a 1954 Jeep, my boss told me, "Yeah, they might work great on that old steel in that Jeep body, but they won't hold up so good on modern car bodies." I call b.s. these work great in everything I have tried then on. You actually need to be careful because they'll cut right through all the layers on steel too quickly and leave you with a big hole to weld up! 10 out of 10 will buy again if I need to, so far I haven't worn any of the cutters out!

These drills are actually " 3/8" " hole saws, as the pic shows. They are not capable of drilling the weld itself. One saw lasts about 5 welds in automotive sheet metal, with ATF as lubrication. These must be continually lubricated or else they will dull at the first cut. These are HSS, If the bit contacts the spot weld at any point it will not cut anymore. The drill is NOT 3/8", it's actually 10MM which is fine but the drive hex is also 10mm, so if you need an extension for the drill, the standard 3/8" hex extensions won't work. I ended up using a 10mm deep well socket connected to my drill as a driver. These drills must be engaged to the metal slowly. If you have a decent size job, order lots of these, or get a harder bit. I would order these again because they are inexpensive, just order lots.

I gotta be honest ive been a body guy sence the mid eighties and have gone through my share of Blair cutters in my day and i was super skeptical of these because of the price but figured it was not a whole lot of money to lose. I got then to do a pair of qtr replacments on an HHR Panel SS im building and was going to be popping a lot of spot welds. They are nearly identicle to Blairs but actually seem a but thinner which is weird because they turned out to be very durable. One of the biggest problems with this type of cutter is sheering the teeth off if the bit rolls out of the hole. So far i did a B pilar and one of the qtrs and am only on my thrid bit. Interesting thing i found a pack of Blair bits in my tool box mid way through one of the qtrs and tried to do a side be side test but the blair shed the teeth after only a few spot welds. Ive yet to sheer a single tooth on these knock offs, at least none that i have seen. They seem to have stayed pretty sharp for a long time and when i did switch to a new bit they were still usable but i like fresh sharp tools. About the only thing i could knock would be the spring loaded point, seems a bit wobly but it never affected the performance and does not have any problem keeping the bit cenetered. Im not big on cheapy knock off tools but these blew away the Blairs in every concievable way (by FAR).
