Installation Step
1. Using a stud finder, identify the location of two studs. The exact horizontal locations wont be precise, but don't worry about that. Just mark where you want the top and bottom inner lip of the safe to be (ie 2 horizontal lines - one on top and one on bottom). Locate the studs using a sheetrock saw, and draw your box on the wall starting from the top or bottom lines. Then saw right down against your studs until you reach one of the horizontal lines.
2. Remove any insulation that may be in the wall and be sure your cut lines are straight.
3. Place the safe into the hole you just cut and using a pencil, mark the studs through the screw holes in the side of the safe. Drill out the holes you just marked. Be sure to use a drill bit that is a tad smaller than the shank of the provided wood screws. This will make it a lot easier to screw in the screw.
4. Place the safe back in the hole and use a ratchet to fasten the wood screws.

4 inches, standard stick built homes, mobile homes have 3 inch deep studs, had to add a 1 inch thick frame to wall so. It would fit

In the event of a fire, the keypad mechanism may or may not survive. But the manual tumble lock should allow you access to the contents. I am truly impressed with the strength and robust design of this safe. I have seven safe's installed on my property and this is my absolute go to for my most valued and treasured items.

This is a heavy duty, large, and extremely heavy safe! And when I saw heavy, I mean heavy! It is made to be installed into the wall, which is why I selected this particular safe. I really wanted a safe that could be out of the way, takes up zero space, and easily hidden. It does take some time to properly install. I had to cut through my wall to make a hole large enough for it. I have only used the key to open or close it so far, so I can't speak on the keypad.

Over-all a well made and sturdy box. The hinges are the weakest point, but still very sturdy and should offer great resistance to break-ins. I am planning on putting it behind a larger picture, so the intruder will have to find it first.It is made to fit between a standard stud spacing and is basically flush to the finished wall. (Just a metal thickness difference.) Lag screws are included, but the batteries are not... so 4 "AA" batteries are needed.It has a low battery light and a master key, just incase the battery fails.It is as described and pictured on Amazon - 5 Stars from me.

This wall safe did not disappoint for the function and price. Installed well. MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE THE SPACE BETWEEN YOUR STUDS BEFORE ORDERING ANY WALL SAFE. You'll want to it to fit snuggly between them. See the product measurements for the INTERIOR of the safe, not the outside face measurements. My only negative comment is the poor instructions, written by a non-English speaking person. Still, if you look at videos that will help.
