Since mutes seem to disappear after a year or two, I am happy to have two for the price of one. These are not identical to the name brand, the edges are not as smooth, there is not a name imprinted on it and the slots to go over the strings appear to be in a different place. But once it is on the cello, it works the same and I doubt anyone is going to walk up to my cello to see if there is a name on my mute. I am happy with my purchase and will recommend it to my students since they also tend to lose their mutes!

It does the job and they're good to keep in a gig bag. my cellist eventually opted for a larger more sturdy one for performances and at home to practice in the wee hours.

I put it on the cello's bridge and it didnt block any sound 2/10. WIll be returning

Not well made. Rubber not cut through so can’t get into strings. Even once put on the bridge, neither mute actually dampens the sound. Had to go and buy an actual tourte mute from a music store, which I should have done in the first place. Cheaper in the store and that one actually works (thought online ordering would save a trip). Returning these.

My son used this on his cello for a high school orchestra performance. Easy to put on and worked beautifully. He played beautifully with this.
