I have a heavy set of barn doors in my office that gets opened and closed several times a day. It takes a solid 10 seconds of concentration to close them, as if it hits the existing stop with too much force it'll bounce back the other way. Well no more! This genius little device bolts on, and slowly and gently pulls the door up against the stop. You can literally fling the door open or closed, and it will glide gently to a stop.Install was simple, just look at the cutaway photo on the product listing, and do exactly that. You'll need to attach the small angle brackets which is a slight pain (not easy to get the screw in there) but that's really the worst of it.Here's my super-fast summary instructions:* Attach the little angle brackets to the cartridge, one on each end so it looks like the photo. You'll end up with each bracket looking like a mirror image of the other (one for left, one for right.)* Bolt it onto the rail somewhere over where the door lands in the closed position, and the open position.* Open / Close the door to where it needs to land, then place the receiver bracket into the notch. Use screws to attach it to the top. If there's a big distance between the receiver bracket and the notch, use the plastic shims underneath / adjust the bracket up and down with the little hex bolt. That's it. Legit. It does its job well, it's inexpensive, and really well engineered.

It's been a few years since I installed these. Easy install. Easy adjustments. Not noticeable. Work really nice and smoothly.

Purchased 3 sets of these for some heavy barn doors I recently built. I installed a set on the door that was already mounted last night, took about 15 minutes. The included instructions were easy to follow. They are barely visible on the door rail which is an awesome feature. Once installed the soft close worked as it should on an 8 ft tall 30 inch wide walnut door. I was pleasantly surprised that mechanism didn't balk even with that much weight. The door opens and closes easily and quietly.

The product appears to be well-made. Once you get it installed it works very well. Unlike some of the other complaints about issues with the instructions, I had no trouble understanding them. All you need to do is look at the picture. I had a few challenges with the installation. FIrst, I had a little less clearance at the top of my door than the instructions called for. I changed the blocks on the door that keep it from jumping track to ones that were a little lower so they would clear the soft close mechanism and the problem was solved. I suggest you throw away the screws that are provided to attach the actuator to the door and get some that are shorter and better made. My door is hardwood so I knew not to even try to just screw them in even through they are stated to be self-tapping. Even after drilling pilot holes nearly as large as the screw they just snapped right off. I had to spend an hour or so trying to get out the broken screws with vice grips. The screws that are provided are way longer than they need to be, and must be made from some really cheap steel. Save yourself some frustration and get some decent screws about 3/4 inch long and use those to attach the actuators to the door. One I got it installed I was very pleased with the way it works.

Impressed with the design, although some parts are plastic, I wish everything was metal, however the quality of the plastic pieces is really good so most likely will last for a long time.Instructions were ok, they state an installation video is available on their product description page although no website info was provided. I found the included instructions to be sufficient for install.Installation, for me it was necessary to remove the door to install the parts but that was not a big deal.Once installed it blends very well with everything and does not stand out.Product works well, again impressed with design and simplicity on how it works. I will include this on any barn doors I install in the future.

While the written assembly instructions (mostly pictures) were lacking in detail, it was easy to figure out how to assemble. I have a single barn door and installation went smoothly and was completed in about 30-minutes.As others have commented, the soft-close device is mostly plastic so long-term reliability is yet to be determined. It appears to be well-made.

It works well. They should have better instructions. I figured It out finally after thinking about it. It works well but it is plastic and some metal mix construction. Will see how long it lasts.

To give you an idea of how well-designed this product is, my box was missing an installation guide and I was still able to figure out how to have it perfectly installed in less than 30 minutes. It really adds that slick finishing touch to our house.

I should have gotten this prior to mounting the door wheels so I would have had the door catch to make sure I had enough space to mount this on the top of the door so that it fits under the rail. Works as described. Great for slowing down the close and the full open.
