I bought this to help dig deeper holes to plant things with long roots, but unfortunately this auger really hates rocks and doesn't go very deep in my area. I think it would work a lot better if the spiral part went all the way to the tip, but I'm sure it will work well in areas that are just dirt.

Garden auger did not work in our Virginia hard clay soil - probably good for soft ground garden soil.

I physically can not manage a post hole digger. But this tool solved that problem. The tool is meant to hand drill a hole. The tip needs to be sharper to start the hold. Had to dig a starting hole with small shovel. But worked well after that.

This auger comes in three pieces, but it was easy to pop together with the included screws and wing nuts. We used it to get holes started for stakes we needed to get into the hard ground to support fencing for our home wiffle ball field. The actual blades of the auger dig a hole that is too wide for fencing stakes, but it was very helpful to get the hole started by moving some of the rocks out of the way, then we finished off pounding them in with a hammer.

I bought this thinking it could help me remove new growth of tree weeds but I'm not that strong. I use it to remove weeds
