- When an airlock bubbles, it simply means that the air pressure inside the bucket or carboy is sufficiently high to push up the little column of water and relieve the pressure.
- If it fails to bubble, all it means is that the pressure within the fermenter isn’t high enough to make it do so. This can easily happen if the lid isn’t fully closed, or if the seal isn’t perfect.

- You just fill with 1/2 or 1/3 water, pop on the cap, and plug it into your fermentation vessel.

I had previously bought cheaper airlocks thinking since they are all plastic, how much of a difference could it really make. As it turns out the seams of the previously purchased airlocks (sold by another company) were not sealed and had hairline openings that were not visible. These new ones that are the subject of this review are plastic but notably of better quality and have worked perfectly.

These airlocks are very nice. Very similar to others but are priced right and I got them with free shipping. No harder to clean than any other airlock I have used.

Super good good product. Sturdy construction and will last for a good while. I like that the red lids have small holes pre-drilled.Also, my air locks came with black rubber grommets beyond the number of air locks even. Those are a great extra and make this product more versatile. I can drill my own lids using the grommets and can safely use the airlock either with a bung or in my own drilled hole.

Easy to use. Worked great for my gallon and half gallon carboys. So easy to clean and sanitize. Low bubbling noise. Airlock works great to keep unwanted pollutants out of wine and mead.
