These jar opener grippers are very similar to one I had many years ago, except these seem slightly thinner and more flexible, which is an improvement over my old one. Since I've gotten older and arthritis is appearing in my hands, along with the strength in my hands not being as good as it used to be, opening jars can be a really serious challenge at times. I just did a little experiment with the grippers to determine how much of a difference these would make. I have a canister with a screw-on lid that I've been battling with every time I've needed to open it for the past week or so. So I gave the lid an extra turn to make it as tightly closed as I could, then tried to open it (and I couldn't budge it). I then tried to open it with one of these grippers, and it opened EASILY -- seriously! Bottom line, they're just fairly thin pieces of textured rubber material cut into circular shapes, but that's all it takes to give you a great grip on the lid (or whatever you're grasping). It's genius and it's a God-send when you're struggling every time you need to open a jar. These will probably last forever -- I love them!

This set of 4 brightly colored jar openers will be easy to find in my kitchen drawer.There's nothing more frustrating that trying to get a tightly sealed jar open, and these grippers are a huge help. They are big enough to go completely around the lid of even a large sized jar of pickles (for example), and they really do give you lots of extra traction.There are certain jars sealed so tightly that I could not ever get them open without using a gripper like this one.This is one of those items that no kitchen should be without, so if you happen to know somebody who doesn't have grippers, I would urge you to gift this set to that person. The cost is so reasonable for a product that is truly useful. (And they are not just for people with arthritis. They are useful for a person at any age because certain jars are incredibly hard to open, no matter how strong you are.)These grippers make opening jars so much easier, no matter how tightly they are sealed.
