3mirrors 67605 Valve Spring Compressor Tool Fit 4.8 5.3 5.7 6.0 6.2 LS1 LS2 LS3 LS6 Chevy LSX

Tips: Applying oil or grease to the tool protects the tool and makes the job smoother.

  • Remove the Valve Covers, Remove the Rocker arms and Rocker rails.
  • Place the Bottom Aluminum plate on the head where the rocker bolts mounted and place the middle section on top that has the stud and mount it to the head with the 2 supplied bolts make sure the tool is setting in the middle between the 2 valve springs. Hand Tighten using a ratchet and socket. Do not Over tighten you can cause damage to the head if you use a impact.
  • Place the top over the 2 valve springs and install supplied nut. Make sure the stud has grease on it.
  • Before tightening if you are using this on a head that is installed on the engine you will need to use a fitting with compressed air in the spark plug hole to keep the valves pushed close.
  • Slowly tighten the nut down using Hand Tool Only Do not use an impact it will cause the nut to overheat and strip threads!
  • After Compressing the springs you can remove the valve keepers using a magnet this will keep them from falling in the Head.
  • After removing keepers you can reverse the nut and slowly let the pressure off and remove the springs.
  • Install the new springs using the same procedure. Make sure when reinstalling the valve keepers that you get them in place so they will hold properly before releasing the pressure.

Due to nerve damage, I do not have enough hand strength to use a normal spring compressor. This thing has been an absolute lifesaver. Extremely easy to use. I used a ratcheting wrench with minimal effort. No broken or bent bolts although I can see how it would happen if not used properly. If you take your time to make sure the tool is laid flat before tightening the nut, it's nearly impossible to mess it up. I've done6 cylinder heads with this so far and couldn't imagine not having it. It also takes up WAY less space in the toolbox which is great.

This tool is simple enough and does the job well whether you're changing springs on or off the engine. If you're going to use it to do the springs on the engine make sure you have an air fitting to pressurize the cylinder and keep the valves up. It seems to be pretty durable and long-lasting.

Terrible directions, but it does the job. Lube the bolt. It includes a second one if you strip it.

The tool comes with no instructionsbut if you have a shred of common sense and study the tool it is easy to figure out.You will see its threaded at an angle, screw the bolt / forcing screw in and hold it on the head...The bolt head is on the bottom against the cylinder head...just sayinso you have a threaded rod pointing up to use the nut and washer on...Does the angle look correct? great your good to go!if not? uhm try flipping it over and reinstall the bolt, lolKeeping the price point in mind...It works perfectly.A big name brand tool such as the Comp Cams tool can be as high as $150.00For the savings i will deal with a little awkwardness ...The aluminum spacer is the only real pain , Putting the bolts through the tool ,then through the spacer then screwing it down takes a couple times to get use to it.Again price point comes into play , if i was doing 10 cars a day maybe a fancy tool would be quicker?OIL or LUBE the forcing screw/nut and your good to go , I was able to do my spring swap with one forcing screw/nut with no noticeable wear.It does come with a spare so i'm set for many more cars in the future if needed.

the instructions are poorly written and it took a few minutes to install the device.however, the poor instructions aren't nearly as relevant as it straight up not working for the 6.2L / L86 engine i have here. it is not possible to get the plate that presses down on the spring far enough down to release the locks.be careful using this tool because it is totally possible to mar the surface where the rocker sits when it's an aluminum head.

Works good, Took a few minutes to get used to but it works great! Cheap and works good! A must for Sloppy mechanics tool kit. I installed a set of pac 1219’s in some 706 heads

This especially beneficial for the the difficult to reach valve springs near or slightly under the firewall. This type of compressor makes it easier to remove and install to keepers. The only thing that could be improved is to have the vertical bolt angle a bit more upwards to match the angle which the spring sit. This way the arms holding the top circular spring retainer would be more centered (equal).

Does what it supposed to do and the price is right. There are 2 bolts supplied, 1 spare, to put pressure on the springs that are not going to last long.

Great build strength but the thing is a pain in the ass when trying to push the springs down over the valve to get the valve keepers in place. Always presses them down unevenly. Had to resort to a homemade setup to get the job done without 4 hours of pissing around
