My son makes knifes, and using this helped him to control the speed of everything then use the shop vac to clean up his mess. It was very easy to use, and he said it helped him to be able to make his knives easier and better which he really liked. I bought this as an attempt to turn down my pond fountain. When I first connected it, I had full control to reduce the fountain to zero water flow. It appeared to work perfectly. After about 20 minutes, I noticed the fountain back at full power.I went and adjusted the dial all the way down and it made no difference in the fountain. It was still running at full power and the display on the dial showed 115v. It was also a bit warm.Apparently it's not designed for a fountain motor. In the picture, you can see the dial turned all the way down and the fountain running at full power in the background.

As advertised. Variable control is smooth from zero to full speed. This application is controlling a 6hp motor easily.

Easy to use voltage controller. Used it with a shop vac and angle grinder and it worked great. Sometimes I just need a small amount of vacuum flow to remove wood or drywall dust so it's not too noisy and the vacuum outlet doesn't cause a dust storm in the room. The speed control on the angle grinder allowed me to use it as a saw to cut through material at the right speed and it worked as I expected.

Got much better control over my house fan with this. Adding an extension cord kept me from having to move the fan around and it did work, but the motor also made a loud hum. It worked as I expected. I reduced the fan speed by about 20% and the vibration and hum went away. Very happy with it. I use this to control the speed of a box fan, and on a basic box fan, even the lowest built-in fan speed option is very fast and loud. Anyway, this device allows me to easily limit the voltage to the 90-100V range, and the fan now runs much quieter. I've had it for half a year now, and it works great, seems to last a long time, cycles well, and keeps the motor cool. The rheostat on the built-in fan was in the low position and the fan blew hard, but this rheostat controls the speed from low to high and cuts the fan off. This is the best speed controller I've ever purchased, and it doesn't get hot
