I was a tad skeptical as I had to drill some holes in hardened D2, this checks out at 58-60 on the Rockwell C scale. Pretty tough stuff. I had broken a good carbide ball end mill as that was what I had on hand. I've always had better results using a flat bottom end mill to drill small holes in hardened tool steel. I Only used one of these end mills (came in a 5 pack) to drill 3 o holes thru 3/16" D2. After use the corners were still sharp and none the worse for wear.

Broke one already, probably my fault. Do seem to cut ok once you get going.

I bought these because I broke a drill bit off while drilling out a seized bolt and they cut exceptionally fast I did break a couple of these bits but it was due to using them in a drill and a slight sideways bind not the fault of the end mills just operator error would definitely buy these again

For cheap end mills the work fine. The key is slow and steady, and use cutting oil. I broke one flute off the first but after doing 4 key ways. Still works but plung cuts are off. Milling on a drill press isn’t ideal but they work.
