I was skeptical, but the block of ice on my steps made it impossible to even use. These cut through rather well. , i ordered two more of the same size and one big one just seconds ago.

I never write a review but this product is DEFECTIVE. The mats would not stay on for more than a few hours at a time. The built in circuit breaker would shut off and not restart. Without constant monitoring these do not work. After 10 days of fooling around I wanted to return the items. The seller approved the return but wants me to pay the return shipping cost of $60.75. I have never had to repay for return shipping before. This is a total waste of money for a product that does not work.

Got this to replace another one that burned out after a coup e uses. Seems to be standing up. I really really like the breaker switch and the time. Makes my life easier. These aren't suppose to run constantly. And when you guys busy you forget about thess things beig on cause they do their job. The yellow stripes kinda help. It can still be slick when it's wet, but better than ice. My barn cat likes to sit in it. And the chickens like to flock to it. I will invest in a few more of these later since it's a hit for everyone.It also came w straps to help keep it wrapped nicely when not in use. Assuming I don't lose them before I put it away, this will make me even happier.

The mats work great, however, be ready for a shock when you get your first electric bill. I left them on 24/7. Not a good idea. My electric bill went from $159 to $366. I now have a remote control switch in front and back and only turn them on when needed. My dogs are already disappointed. They would lay on them as if they were in a hot tub.If I was rating on their effectiveness I would give them a 6 star rating.

I purchased this to replace a older snowmelt mat that had a short in it. This mat does melt snow as advertised, but the surface is flat, slick, and very slippery when you walk on it If it's wet with melted snow. I had to go out and buy a few rubber mats to put over it to prevent the slipperiness. Now it works okay.

After 2 consecutive Winters with record snowfall and the associated frequent shoveling, Mother Nature decided to send warmer, dry weather our way. However today is only the first official day of Winter, so there are 3 months in which it still could snow.The snow melting mat I received comes with an instruction manual, an outdoor waterproof timer, 2 velcro straps for off season storage, a power plug with yellow and red buttons, and the ability to connect a series of mats together. The yellow button is the test button, while red is for reset, similar to GFCI outlets. The instructions say you can place it on any surface with ice or snow, turn it on, and it will thaw up to 2 inches per hour. When Mother Nature sends some snow, I will test this.It's a rectangle shape too wide to place on my porch without bending, but I can set it on my sidewalk once we get snow. I think I shovel faster than 2 inches per hour, but this mat could help keep walkways free of snow while I'm shoveling in a different area, I guess.The instructions say to store it when cool. I would presume it also needs to be dry for storage. It needs to be stored indoors as external heat would damage it. I'm hoping we will get enough snow to use it.
