This product worked as expected I’ve had several over the span of 30 years as a machinist. Quite pleased with the product.

Work great on soft metals. Stainless steel is not so great, but if you punch 3-4 times it will work.

Great Product for Escaping from a Vehicle when your door won't open. Simply push the tip in the corner of any side window and the 'safety glass' will shatter and drop into hundreds of pieces. It can also be used to quickly save a trapped person in a car that is on fire.

They don't leave much of a mark to go by. Pretty weak.

Got these for general use on projects using aluminum and mild-steel materials. The description indicates they are also intended for use with wood materials, but I have never had good success using automatic spring punches on wood as the tip/point always seems to creep out of exact placement, usually following the wood grain somewhere I don't want it to. I did give one of these a brief go on some red oak with the usual result (wandering point). But....the punch did work fine on some hard maple, which has virtually no grain or variation.I've used one of the punches in drilling about 50 holes in aluminum bar material (approx 1/8th soft hardware store quality material). The spring resistance seems appropriate, and after a short time using it the release point was predictable. The point held up well, remaining sharp. Used the same punch for starting about 30 or so holes in 3/16th inch mild-steel bar stock. The tip of the punch still looks and feels sharp and pointy, although some wear does show when comparing it to an unused unit.I would compare these punches to what you would find in a local hardware store in both build tolerances and quality. I do have a couple of high-end machinist's spring punches which put these to shame, but at a much higher cost. I save those for hardened steel, stainless or alloyed material, and am using and plan on using these punches for more normal work. They came with a case, but I have never put punches in cases and just keep them in a tool box drawer. My preference would be for no case and a bit lower price, but if you want a case to keep them in the one that comes with these punches is fineI would and probably buy these again if and when they wear out. Or more likely when I misplace or lose these two.
