UPDATE: Since submitting my review, I discovered later that I had inadvertently caused the problem. I power down almost all electric/electronic device (fridge is one exception) when I'm away for an extended period of time. I did not realize that my new Smart TV did a reset when unplugged. My other Smart TVs do not reset when unplugged or hard powered down. My new Smart TV reset its HDMI eARC output and was no longer in PCM mode. This adapter unit will only process PCM audio.After I did more extensive trouble-shooting and discovered what had happened, I changed the audio output back to PCM. The adapter worked and continues to work fine.It's a great adapter unit for the price.The adapter's output signal is high quality and my amp processes it into excellent 6-speaker (2 front, 2 rear, 1 center & 1 sub-woofer) surround sound.I apologize if my initial review caused anyone not to buy this adapter.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I got this unit to convert my new TV's HDMI eARC audio to RCA output to feed my old surround sound amplifier. It work well for the weeks that I used it. I was away afterwards for a month. The unit failed to work upon my return. No sound whatsoever from the amp. Would only get a popping sound when disconnecting and reconnecting RCA cables.This unit only has a 30 day warranty.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!

Samsung TV… DU7200. Used the red and white RCA ports to connect an older soundbar to HDMI ARC. Worked immediately. Go into the TV settings and switch to PCM.

TV didn’t have RCA connection for older receiver. This did the trick with no sound degradation.

I purchased this product to hook up my stereo preamp to my TV. My preamp does not have an HDMI input, so I purchased this to connect HDMI on my TV to RCA on my stereo. When using it, it produces an extremely high pitched frequency that you can't really hear but you can tell it's there. Its very fatiguing and literally hurts my ears, I can't use it for longer than 15 minutes. When I turn it off, the pain in my ears immediatley goes away. It also products a lot of pops and noises whenever I change sources on my TV. Not good for my speakers. I'm completely unable to use this product and it was a waste of money. For those researching, my specific set up / chain was: this adapter > Schiit Kara Preamp > EQ > Schiit Vidar.

I mean technically it does convert hdmi arc to optical successfully, but it not very well.The off switch doesn’t actually turn it off. Even though when it is running I can hear the sound from my tv through my sound bar, there is significant feedback that ruins the experience.

Works just fine and took only a few minutes to set up.I have a pair of 2.1 speakers I purchased while I was a college student as my first sound system, so there's a little bit of sentimental value with them, but also they still sound great. It felt like a waste to not be able to use them anymore so I did some research to see if it was possible to convert them to HDMI ARC, and this product came up as the most well rated item for that task. After a short amount of time they were playing music through my TV the same way they used to in my college dorm all that time ago.To my delight I was also able to adjust the volume using the TV remote so it's fully integrated with the TV despite being old speakers with a knob for volume control.Since it only requires 5V 0.5A of power, most USB ports built into modern TVs provide ample power to not use an adapter.One thing to note, be sure the HDMI cable you use supports ARC. Originally I could not get it to work with a short spare HDMI cable I had, but upon switching to another one that did have ARC support it began working just fine.

I have an older sound bar with only an optical connection. Bought a new TV that didn’t have optical. Plugged this in to the ARC HDMI on the TV and optical on the soundbar. Works like a charm.Yes, soundbar has Bluetooth as well as TV. But no matter how I adjusted the delay the sound never matched the lips and drove me and my wife crazy. So a wired connection is the easiest way to solve that problem and this did just that.

I got this adapter to allow me to hook up older stereo equipment to the HDMI eARC sound output of my new 4k TV. This adapter essentially lets you use older stereo equipment to get good "home theater" sound out of a TV. The only caution I will add, is that you do need to make sure you have the small switch on this adapter set to "ARC" (i.e. tell this adapter that you want to use the TV's ARC interface as your sound source).And the first adapter I got worked so well (with our new 4k TV) that I bought a second adapter for an older 1080p TV I also have around the house. So I now have "home theater" level sound on both my newer 4k TV and my older 1080p TV. In the case of the newer TV the sound was run through a 40 year old stereo we were able to salvage, whereas the older TV is now getting sound from two sets of salvaged "powered speakers".NOTE: This adapter has two different sound output jacks (a headphone jack and the more traditional jacks used to plug into a stereo). And since all sound output jacks are always active, with the right cables you can plug this adapter into two different sound systems at the same time. I found this to be handy in situations where you get better sound quality when you add a second set of speakers. For example, on my older TV I used two different sets of "powered speakers", and the resulting 4-speaker system resulted in much nicer sound than I got with either set of powered speakers individually.

Does what it says it will do. New TV is now putting sound out of 15 year old stereo receiver. Sounds better than other sound bars I have

Even though the product functions as promised, the quality os sound output is very bad with hissing noises even at very low volumes

Erfüllt seinen Zweck ohne Tadel. Endlich kann ich meine Kopfhörer mit Kabel wieder benutzen, weil Bluetooth bei mir nicht so richtig funktioniert.
