Not an expert woodworker, but I bought these to use making knife scales. They seem to work well, but are a little short and this makes for an odd length stroke as you pull it across the workpiece. Other than that they seem to work well.

I tend to mess up my files doing dumb things with them when needing to "McGyver" something when I'm not near my shop. I use them as a lever or wedge, I file partly hardened epoxy or other materials that can't be cleaned out of the teeth. Normally I buy the best, top brand items for my shop, but with this important tool, it's a use, abuse, and beat up for a while, then throw away. I have a high-quality name-brand rasp for my furniture construction and fine DIY jobs, but this one fit's the bill for everyday and tool box transport use. For amateur wood workers, it should be fine, but for serious, I'd buy better quality for everyday use.

If you are looking for a perfect rasp you will probably pay 3-4 times the price of this set for a single rasp.This set has two identical files/rasps. Tools are fairly hard and cannot be scratched with a needle file. I am confident that they will remain sharp for a very long time if not forever. Very handy and work perfectly for quick touch-up or forming of small to medium size parts.Few teeth on the rasp side are not completely formed, think both of rasps have this imperfection. Not very noticeable when shaping wood but a sign of insufficient quality control or may be they just do not care at this price point.
