If you have a Makita angle grinder with the X-Lock system you will almost certainly find this useful. This adapter allows you to use the most commonly available discs to be used on this grinder instead of having to find and purchase Makita's limited and pricey X-Lock discs. It has a threaded 5/8" arbor and installs in seconds. It is machined well with absolutely zero play once it is on the grinder. It comes off just as easily and, if necessary, you can switch back and forth from the adapter to the X-Lock. I have many discs from a previous grinder and didn't want to toss them out so I gave this a try. I was a bit skeptical at first but it has far exceeded my expectations.

Works good. It is made very well and a little heavy. Happy so far.

Bought an x-lock grinder not realizing that while x-lock is totally awesome for quick wheel changes, the discs are expensive with limited variety and they are hard to find. This is a really great solution and I’m very happy with it. Orecisely machined and works as advertised. Will save its costs back very quickly.

With the abundance of imported faucets, it’s challenging when your new faucet is not compatible with your aerator device, such as a portable dishwasher. This solves the problem by giving you all the various adaptors in one place.

The Xlock adapter appears to be really well made. It is precisely machined, and the threads are finished well. BUT, I don't yet have an Xlock tool, so I have not tested that aspect. I HAVE tested the quick-change nut with the little handle, and it works just great! It is low profile, and does not stick out beyond the 5/8-11 threaded mount of any of my DeWalt angle grinders. It stays in place when installed. And the handle snaps up for quick removal. No need to tighten it down crazy tight like I see some folks do. In fact if the blade spins when bound up on something, I'm happy. I tried binding it up to see what would happen, and it responded just like the factory nut.Updated November 13, 2024: I've reduced the rating to just two stars. I had my cutting disc bind up on a cut, and this resulted in the nut deforming to the point where I could NOT remove my cutting wheel while in the field. When I got home to my shop, I could remove it no problem with the proper cobra pliers. But this ended my project while I was out and about. I couldn't remove the nut with the little pop-up handle, and I couldn't remove the nut with a typical pin wrench meant for angle grinders. This is a significant issue, so 2 stars may still be too generous. In many thousands of cuts I've never had this happen with the factory, solid nut. I've thrown this thing away and have gone back to the factory unit. I guess this will work in light-use situations, but I can no longer trust using it (and mine is deformed and unusable now anyway.

This is a nice adapter to convert your X-Lock system to use standard discs. While X-Lock consumables are convenient, they won't meet all your needs—sometimes you need a standard 5/8" disc. The drawback is that it pushes the disc out, so some discs may run on the guard. Just something to be aware of. Of course, the guard can be removed, but it's not recommended.

What more can I say they make the X-Lock angle grinders accept traditional grinding and cutting disks and wire wheels I don’t like that there’s no jam rod hole or flats for a spanner to hold the base to prevent the shaft from spinning freely because there’s no lock button on the X-lock however with these flip up D ring lock nuts for tool-less accessory changes you can grip the base with enough force and give the nut a sharp twist just as it seats in order to grab with enough force to secure cutoff wheels wire wheels grinding discs and flapper wheels without any issues whatsoever and considering they give you this kind of flexibility and functionality and potential cost savings in accessories vs having to use the proprietary X-lock attachments and it’s also significantly less expensive than the brand name version of it while having exceptionally clean machining and the only drawback is easily worked around it does the thing and doesn’t exceptionally well that’s a win in my book
