As a law enforcement officer, I rely heavily on my handcuff keys, using them anywhere from 10 to 30 times a day. Recently, my old handcuff key wore out, so I decided to get two of the ASP Sentry Universal Handcuff Keys as backups. Here’s my experience with them:Durability and PerformanceThe ASP Sentry Universal Handcuff Key is highly durable and works great for frequent use. It feels sturdy and well-made, which is crucial given the demanding nature of my job. Having a reliable key is essential, and this product definitely meets that requirement.Convenience and UseOne of the features I appreciate is the pocket clip, which makes it easy to keep the key accessible and secure. The clip allows me to quickly grab the key when needed, which is a significant advantage in high-pressure situations.Design FlawHowever, the key has a notable design flaw that affects its usability. The clip is glued on crooked, meaning it doesn’t align with the key part of the handcuff key. This misalignment makes it difficult to know the correct angle to insert and remove the key from the handcuff keyhole. In a profession where every second counts, this small but significant issue can be quite frustrating.Overall ImpressionDespite the crooked clip, the key itself is durable and performs well, which is why I gave it 4 stars. If the alignment issue with the clip were fixed, this would easily be a 5-star product. It’s reliable and robust, but the design flaw hampers its overall functionality.
