I was looking for a good way to get a nice 4:3 aspect ratio at > 60hz out of my MacBook for some classic Windows gaming, and this did the trick perfectly. I also tried the Benefi HDMI to VGA adapter but that resulted in some horizontal noise. The Amazon Basic USB-C to VGA adapter did not work at all.The only reason I knocked one star off was that it got stuck in some mode where it wouldn't output the correct resolutions. I believe this has something to do with it being powered by the VGA port - my solution was to unplug everything and then make sure the monitor was powered on before I plugged in the cable.

Worked great, till it didn't. We had it for a year, used it not more than 10 times before the USB end came out of the cable and it was useless.

I wanted an extra screen for my office (now up to 3). I plugged it in and it immediately worked, no set up or installation. The cord is decently thick and feels very durable. I've been using it for over a month now and I'm very happy with the purchase.
