As usual I did not completely the description. Thought bottom was ceramic. Liked the way it looked. Wondered how long before I would break it. BUT it is metal. Keeps butter cold. Looks great on table. Sooo happy I ordered this. Really does the job! Kudos.

The butter stays fresh. The butter is spreadable from dish. I don’t refrigerate it.The lid has a good seal. I like color and bamboo lid.Doesn’t break when you drop it on the floor.Cleans easily by hand.I recommend

I bought this thinking it should be the perfect size for a block of kerrygold. I am on a neverending search for the perfect sized dish to hold my kerrygold butter. Well, I took it out of the box and lo and behold it was the right size to hold a block of kerrygold! I got excited. I also got a color that I liked - it was dark grey (I don't know why the seller would send out various colors without letting the buyer choose, but so be it. The dark grey was acceptable). So...I threw away the box that it came in before I washed the thing. Put the container (not the lid) in the dishwasher. It came out spotted. speckled. dappled. At first - I thought, maybe it is just some hard water spots (and my jet dry dispenser was empty). Nope. The spots are permanent. And I am not talking slightly discolored. It looks like my butter container has a disease! I cannot believe that I threw the box away - but who would think that something that had a powdercoat finish would do something like this? powdercoat is supposed to make things super sealed and impervious to issues. Within reason, of course. Oh well - waste of money and no way to recuperate it.
