These are great, heavy-duty brass couplers for the gardener. The female end attaches to the hose the male end attaches to the watering device (e.g sprinkler, hose nozzle). It takes a bit of effort to couple the watering device to the hose before the water is turned on. On the other hand, once attached there is very little, if any, water leaking between the coupling.However, it is not easy to disconnect one device and connect it to another device especially when the water faucet is turned to full pressure. At that point, it takes a lot of strength to disconnect/connect watering devices, even when the hose is kinked. The resolution is to first install a hose shut-off before attaching the female brass coupler.

I switch to brass fittings a while ago and just needed more to complete my connections of multiple hoses and devices. ALL the old plastic ones broke in a year or two, or leaked which I count as being broken. NOT these brass fittings. The only problem I have had is during the winter when I remove the hoses and nozzles, the reconnection may be difficult. Don't know if the ball bearings freeze up or what. But, spray them with WD-40 and they are back to normal and SECURE with no leaks. Very effective product and great price.

I've fought for years with the cheaper plastic varieties of disconnect valves as these. I find that these nice brass disconnects are just lovely to work with. The biggest problem, however, is that there is a valve in the female (hose end) connector that cuts off the water supply when removed from the sprinkler, etc . When the female connector remains connected to the hose or water source while on at full pressure,the disconnect is downright difficult to remove because the cut-off valve will not release the release ring of the connector. Of course, if the hose is turned off, then all is well. I can't find any other failing with these nice connectors otherwise.

This item works great attaching a nozzle with water turned on / hose under pressure, however if you have higher than normal water pressure you have to turn the water off to disengage / remove the nozzle. The price is high.

I have this quick connect on my 35 ft travel trailer and it makes it much easier disconnecting and reconnecting. Doesn't leak remarkably.

Just like other reviewers I had a bad experience with this product. When I received it Itested it by clicking the attachents together and disengaging them a few times, it seemed pretty solid.Then I tried it with water pressure on. The first time I disengaged them with water pressure on,the shut-off mechanism did not work. The second time I tried this, the female fitting flew apart into severalpieces. I still can't find the 3 ball bearings or the retention mechanism.Secondly, the package says that this product contains lead, so I don't know how it can be safe for drinking waterapplications. The manufacturer should comment on this.Based on the number of negative reviews it seems like this product has a quality or design flaw. If it's notsafe to connect/disconnect under pressure, the instructions should say so, but they do not as far as I can tell.

In who poorly designed item. When it first arrived it was impossible to connect the different accessories I had. The action of the quick disconnect was so stiff. I had to call the distributor in SC I believe and at first they couldn't get it to connect. Finally after working the problem they found that it was stiff being new and there was some lubricant in the slip joint that hadn't gotten distributed on the action. After a little bit of pounding the parts connected and seemed to get more fluid wit repeated disconnects. However after hooking up my first accessories it would not disconnect. I tried to pull the slip ring back with so much forced that the rubber ring displaced. I was finally able to disconnect it by teaching two flatbread screwdrivers and inserting them in the grove and twisting them was finally able, with a little spraying to get them to disconnect. Now h ave the same problem with my hose sprayer. It won't come off using vise grips or screwdrivers. This kind of negates the reason I bought this item and reinforces the idea tha I really should pay more attention to the poor ratings this product has earned in the pastTo me this begs the question why does Amazon not purge poor performers or products shown to be defective in design by reviews.Oh well the distributor could not been more helpful in working with me so it is a learning experience. This product made in China is unsatisfactory to me .probably should have been rated one star but the distributor was very helpful so I gave it two stars for that. Wish I'd bought something else tho.

Excellent durability. This product is a must have for any home owner. These quick connectors allow you to easily switch between any device. Once I started using this product I wondered how I lived without it. Don't bother with plastic quick connectors; if you want years of reliable service go with the Camco brass quick connectors.
