This is not quite commercial quality, but for the price I don't expect that. Assembly was fairly easy. The handle and wheels are nice to have, to help you move the bench around a room. It's very sturdy and acceptably comfortable padding, not a huge amount of padding, but enough that it's fine. I upgraded from a flat Cap bench to this, and what an improvement with the incline!

I've been working out at gyms for 20+ years, so I have a good understanding of gym benches. This bench is not quite the same that you would find at the gym, but its a pretty close substitute and much more cost effective. The assembly was pretty easy and took about 30 minutes. I think in the past it may have came in more pieces than it does now. Part of the assembly is done before it ships. The bench weighs about 55 lbs, so it is pretty sturdy. The adjusting knobs are now spring action, I understand in past models they may have been threaded only, so you would need to unscrew and re-screw to adjust. Now you just pull the knob out and it will adjust and let it back to lock the back and seat. I'm pretty impressed by the quality for the cost. I am not typically one to write reviews, so it was good enough to prompt feedback. I've seen some reviews that their bench had alignment issues, etc. That could be possible, but mine lined up fine. Just make sure you line everything up before tightening the bolts all down. Also arrived 6 days faster than originally quoted.

Some of the metal parts arrived slightly dented or bent due to UPS but did not hinder assembly. Heavy and feels solid. When either of the pads are raised there is a little bit of side to side wiggle but when flat very sturdy. I may try to fit some hard rubber washers to mitigate this. Overall solid.

As other reviews have stated the quality and craftsmanship of this product is poor. The product was packaged well but I immediately knew that I was porked as soon as I picked up the bench frame and heard steel shavings tumbling around the inside of the frame. Some poor guy before me must've already gave this bench a go and ultimately met his demise of stripped bolts. I kept positive and got to assembly and didn't even get past the first step before hitting a major problem. One of the predrilled holes in the frame that connects the bottom support rail was set at the wrong pitch. As you can see by my photos one of the mounting bolts is severely off center. It's so bad that I wasn't able to assemble the bench. I could try to use a step drill bit to widen the holes in the support rail or drill the hole out and retap it but why should I have to do the manufacturers job? As a consumer that paid $150 for a simple weight bench I expect to have no issues assembling it and to be done in no more than an hour. Is that too much to ask for CAP? Apparently so because you have consumer after consumer on here calling you out for the poor quality of your merchandise. You should really consider getting into a different market because apparently you suck at building weight benches.

Assembly wasn't too difficult. Visible rust where some welding wears off. I spent 30 minutes flipping the base side to side getting metal shavings out of it. Built sturdy, I'm not doing anything crazy on it but it's definitely a budget bench. 1 of the strips on the base were stripped but I managed to tighten it. The loosen to adjust feature is awkward to me and doesn't feel right.

Building a home gym, this was one of the best investments I made besides my power rack. People complain about how the pad gets narrower towards the top. It didn't bother me at first, but I started noticing it a lot more the more I used it. I find myself almost losing balance as I lay on it while benching (yikes!) and I am not a big guy by any means. So if you don't lay on it right on the center you will notice you're coming off the bench on one side. Some quick pros:-relatively easy to assemble. Did it myself within an hour or so.-Feels sturdy enough and i feel comfortable enough while I'm on it under some weight.quick cons:-again, the narrow upper back part of the bench- if you don't tighten the knobs when readjusting the levels, it does wobble- on the same not of tightening the knobs, if you tighten them too much, they get stuck and become hard to unscrew.

Bench arrived exactly on estimated delivery date! It took approximately 30-minutes to assemble and I'm not that handy! The two tools necessary for assembly (an Allen and Box Wrench) are both included. All of the hardware is nicely prepackaged and clearly labeled. Both the seat and back rest adjust, with just a simple pull of a knob, which is spring-loaded. I am of average height (approximately 5' 10") and the back rest is plenty long to support my head and torso. As for the gap between the seat and back rest, it is virtually non-detectable. The fact that seat also adjusts, really puts you in in the optimum position, to perform inclined exercises! Overall, it is a very sturdy and professional looking piece of equipment. As an added bonus, my bench was damaged during shipping, as there was a puncture in the top of the box, which caused a small tare along the seam of the back rest. I contacted CAP Barbell Customer Service, via email and they could not be more helpful or responsive! Within a few days, they provided me with a new replacement! While there may be some better, more expensive benches on the market, for a home gym, this is a great purchase for the money!

I was super hesitant about buying this because the reviews are so mixed and there’s a lot of negative reviews however due to the extremely low price, it was a no-brainer worst case I can return it right so it came in and I put it together immediately I was missing a bolt but maybe I lost it not sure Not a big deal. It it extremely solid doesn’t move doesn’t wiggle. I was able to adjust the alignment so it’s straight and it’s sturdier than the benches at planet fitness and works really well. Definitely recommend if you’re on the fence. I know I was.

Got this for a garage gym im throwing together. Pretty good quality except the top and bottom pads don't line up and the OCD is real. Bought this a week ago when it was on sale here for $96 so cant complain.

After 4 months of heavy use, I can say that this bench is well worth the $200 price tag.I weigh 210lbs and use maximum 75lb dumbbell pairs on this bench flat and in incline position. I've never felt unsafe using this. Both parts of the seat can be creeky and only slightly wobbly at times. This always happens when sitting or getting up from the bench. Structurally, nothing has been compromised. All the bolts and welds are still tight.Adjusting the angles is simple to do with the screw knob. You'll always hear a loud locking noise to know the bench is secure. The wheels and handle are helpful, especially if you have limited space and need to constantly move the bench around. If I had to choose 1 con, it would have to be the weight capacity. Sure the 500lb limit makes me at ease, but a 1000lb limit would probably be better.I don't plan on ever getting anywhere close to that capacity, but safety is my ultimateconcern here. There are a number of commercial grade benches on the market with a 1000lb capacity. They usually go for double the price of this bench or higher. Safety should always be #1 especially when lifting heavy weights in potentially vulnerable positions. If you're on a budget or just starting a home gym, this bench is a great investment.

In theory this is a really nice bench. When it arrived, nothing was damaged, all cushions were intact, all hardware packaged nicely... But there was a lot of metal shavings inside some of the parts. I took it out to my shop and blew most of it out with a compressor, but needed a long magnet to get some of them out (You could hear it rattle around inside, and some of them would fall out of the bolt holes, making a mess on my floor). After I got that out of the way, it was time to assemble it. I didn't use the included tools, I used my own. It went together fine, the only thing is the way the bottom legs attach, you will never be able to get these tight. The tighter you fasten it, it simply crushes the tubing, and they will always have a bit of movement. I may just weld them on at some point. However! With all of that being said, after getting through the assembly, nothing has really proven to be a problem. All of the negatives were during the assembly stage, and it works well as a bench. The twist and pull knobs to make adjustments are interesting, they hold everything in place securely, but can be a hassle with tired/sweaty hands, especially if you put them on really tight before your workout. I also put felt pads on the bottom of the feet so it doesn't destroy my floor.
